Looking at purchasing a used 2020 Levo Expert. Motor serial number is 100200901. I believe this means it was manufactured Jan 9, 2020? If so, is this the updated 2.1 motor that they are using for warranty replacements? As such, this bike has the most up to date motor?

All ebikes fail . Maybe levos a little more often . It helps to not be a spastic . And let's face it specialized attract a special kind of rider . So more prone too failure. My levo still goes turbo to work de restricted everyday. 19 model. old motor. I haven't updated mine either cos the update is crap . There you go my 2 cents .

It was supposed to be the ones starting in Jan 2020 but I still blew out a Jan 2020 motor in 500 miles. I am now on an April 2020 motor and it has been holding up great as I have 1200 miles on it now with no issues. This is my fourth motor the other three all failed with an avg of 500 miles on them. I know a few others that are having the same success with the April 2020 or later motors.

Maybe Levos fail slightly more often because they get hammered more, the 700 watt hour battery allows you to do proper rides in higher support modes. The 500 watt hour on most other e bikes don't have the range in my opinion.

Mines still yet to fail though 2600 miles. Plenty of other problems though! Such as the wire between the motor and battery. Dropper Post. Brakes. etc. Plus internal routing is an absolute nightmare.

April 2020 motor, replacement for original motor, in my levo S works still running perfectly and have installed the latest firmware update that restores walk mode.

Look how many more threads/ messages there are Vs all the other brands. Literally thousands, so yeah you are going to see more failures with the amount of levo’s out there.

Anyways, for what it’s worth I have had two levo’s and neither have ever had an issue. I have three other friends with levo’s and none of them have had any issues either.

In my opinion the date is first Day of September, so the motor should have got all the updates, and, very important, a 4 year Warranty.

Surely 4 year warranty is not dependent on date of motor but date of bike, ie MY 2019/20?

And now there's a jan 2021 motor, upgraded again..

Agreed re build date interpretation. My 2020 Expert was built 17 May 2019 (decal on frame), purchased 30 August 2019, original motor replaced at 485 km for what seemed to me to be the one way bearing on the cranks getting noisy when pedalling backwards. The new motor fitted has a serial number of 100190818-1-0 on Mission Control, so looks to be built on 18 August 2019. So my current motor was produced three months after my bike. It has been trouble free for almost 2500 km. I have another 2 1/2 years of warranty so am not too bothered if it dies, I suppose the later the better.
