Do regular mtb's even matter anymore?

Just looking for opinions if regular mtb's (non-emtbs) even really matter much to anyone on this site any longer. As far as myself, I don't even pay attention to anything that is not emtb. A regular mtb wouldn't even interest me at this point after riding my emtb's for 3 years now. A non-emtb just seems really boring.

The ultimate motivation for getting fitter is to lift a " light" levo sl off the bike rack after unloading your sons reign advanced....then trying to keep up down hill.

All the interesting R&D is happening on the e-bike side, I don't really follow or care what's going on with amish rides.
Still have my regular mtb though, it's relegated to uplift days only.

I’m with you. Sometimes I’ll chuckle about the latest wiz bang model with a 20% improvement in pedaling efficiency as if it matters much anymore 😜

I cant really see me buying another normal mtb in the near to mid future - I still have my normal MTB (Yt Capra pro) , and I still ride it but only at uplift venues and when we go away to a foreign country, so couldnt justify spending as much as I have done in the past on something that gets such little use these days.

I am with you on this I have no interest in regular bikes, the mileage I am currently doing monthly is more than what I done annually on my regular bike.

Can't beat a good normy for feel & agility vs a full on eeb. The SL's are changing the equation but only in the sense that normies have crept up in weight in recent years. I looked into getting a Santa Cruz something or other normy last year & was shocked to see it coming in around 16kg, where my 2016 still good Zesty is around 12.5.

I still enjoy the burn from a climb on my non assist bikes, the real reward in any form of exercise is from endorphins & you only get that from effort. Eebs otoh give you a bigger day & playground. We're approaching the point of comparing apples with oranges in cycling, the divergence is making it almost not the same thing now, not better or worse, just different.

I totally get the work for the ride thing. But, I simply turn down the assist sometimes for a mile or two then go back to mid boost or emtb mode depending on which bike I am riding. I get plenty of work when I ride. Plus, it's really comes down to the enjoyment factor. I literally have never had as much fun on a regular mtb as I do an my emtb's. This is the main thing that really opened up more and longer riding for me personally...it's simply just A LOT more fun. Then there is my whole previous moto riding I used to do. A regular mtb just does not give me that rush I get from an emtb.
