This is definitely not what is happening in my country.
You know people here won't sh1t on you if you're in France you know (guessing, based on ..) .. they're quite open minded :)

It also makes it easier for people to relate to your situation and what you're talking about if you set your location to something more relevant ..

anyway - sorry for the thread interruption .. back to the 2/3/4/6 tube thread ... ;-)

There seems to be a bit of confusion around who your contract is with when you buy an e-bike.

It’s the retailer, not Amflow, not DJI, not the manufacturer of the battery cells etc. Those relationships are between them and the dealer you’re buying from.

DJI are vertically integrated with regard to drones/UAS, and indeed you can buy direct, but DJI don’t make e-bikes, the same as Bosch/Mahle/Shimano etc, nothing different here.

First reports of Australian deliveries to customers of XL and XXL sizes today. Apparently the M and L are due in December.
Camden Cycles have their XL for demos.

Yes I own one. Came from Germany to me, Slovakia, originally box packed. Bike shop made for me account on Amflow web side. Have no idea why, can ask. But bike works, app works. I changed shock, wheels (mullet), shifting, dropper, seat, handlebar, fork and will brakes as well. Only complain is that adjusting of custom power levels is possible just within narrow window, means preset modes are set and my custom changes are not as I would like to have them. In settings you can change region, so I am almost sure that there is no prob to buy it anywhere and ride anywhere. View attachment 149010
Hi what coil did you fit, did it need a mounting kit? Cheers

I doubt any major brand is going to dump their existing motor supplier any time soon. They are likely committed to their existing motor etc for a number of years.
Maybe some niche suppliers with no commitment to future orders of Bosch/Shimano etc but it also means designing a new frame so i suspect it will be post 2026 before the DJI system is available in any other bike.

A major brand could, however, do for example what Trek has done with TQ by having more than one motor manufacturer supplier.

Merida have also just gone the multi-motor route with the new e160's being Shimano and the e160SL and e180 being Bosch.
It's not unthinkable for there to be a DJI Avinox thrown in the mix for another bike brand sooner rather than later, if the incentives are right.

It wouldn’t be a big stretch for a manufacturer to adapt the frame to take the Avinox motor, battery and controller either hydro form or carbon layup?

Costly, yes, but done in conjunction with a model year refresh would be the most sensible time to do it.

I can’t see Bosch et al taking it lying down though, so no doubt comms are ongoing with established manufacturer partners about what’s in the pipeline to compete. Just guessing though, I’m not in the industry!

As they have to retool for the "Gen5" Bosch it's just as easy to retool for DJI. It's really not that much of an issue.

What we dont know is how available this is from DJI yet. Can it even be bought and what the minimums are. DJI is incredibly aggressive so they will be looking to do deals if they really are intent on supplying others. For me this side still remains to be seen and I think you will see more "new" brands appear as we have with Amflow before much wider adoption from others.

The interest in the Amflow has been massive but that has been driven by DJI pooring big money into advertising and promotion on social media. It's fair to say DJI have bought a lot of the interest. It's not clear if say Cube or another brands releasing their own model with it will they get the same interest. DJI is a brand that generates its own hype like somewhat like apple .

I think DJI would get all this hype with zero marketing spend. The motor system is objectively impressive, and would obviously excite e-bike customers.
There is no downside apart from unknown long term issues - same or better spec cf existing new models at that price WRT frame and weight, with bigger battery and more power. What else comes close?

some of you have really cute ideas on how quickly brands create their bikes. my bosses were in spain in 2021 to attend the dealer camp where they discussed the 2024 mondraker lineup where they learned about sram switching to mineral oil in their brakes. go figure.

We don't know how long the brands have been aware of the Avinox and its requirements. Haven't Youtube types been testing the Amflow bike for a year or so already?

Don't DJI have issues selling into the US? If so, that would cause potential partners to tread carefully.

Today it's complicated and not fully clear and will likely change a LOT with the new administration.

DJI is banned from being used by government agency's due to national sercity concerns.

There was a temporarily import ban in mid October but it seemed to be very localised at some ports but has now stopped and product is moving into the US again with out issue.

But DJI is on the cusp of a full FCC ban in the US and this is a particularly nasty one as this will affect any products with wireless functionally as FCC approval is required for all wireless systems. so this would affect drones, cameras with WiFi or the an Avinox bike with WiFi as an example. This would only affect new products being certified as we understand it and technically would not affect existing products that are already certified such as Avinox and current products. This has been bubbling along for a while and it does look like it may happen but it's a slow burner.

Along side this there are real big pushes from many parts of the US Gov and Congress to just totally ban DJI as they have done with Huawei.

it's not remotly clear who will get it done first or what the new chief will do. He could on day one go full anti china and hit them or he could say he has fixed it all and DJI will get a free pass. The latter is unlikely.

Today bikes should be able to be imported without issue.
