Hello Everyone. I just got my first EMTB (2022 Giant Trance x E+ Pro 29er). It does not have a display. Is it better to just use the ride control app with a quad lock or should I get a display/computer?

Giant Ride Control questions - Can any other app interact directly with the bike or is it only through ride control app? I really want something that can match up my heart rate (Apple Watch) with my riding. I know I can just use Strava but that would not get cadence etc. I know I can sync Ride Control to Strava but then I can't get my heart rate since I'm using ride control.
Any Ideas or do I need to submit an enhancement to Giant to enable an Apple Watch app........

Thanks

Hi SanMarzano,
I’m not a big fan of displays on a mountain bike, that said, so far there only seem to be the Giant app and Garmin devices that can interconnect with Giant bikes. No luck with Apple watch which is also my setup. I just start the bike app on the A-watch, this gives me the only metric I really care about: my cardio. The bike uses ant+ networking protocol which is owned by Garmin. I think there should be a development partnership between Giant and Apple to make this work, I could be wrong… I’d like to connect my watch to the bike also!
Congratulations on your new bike!

I'd rather keep my phone in my pocket/pack, safer from the vibration and impact.
I'd get a Garmin 130, or higher, depending on the features I'd use.

here is what irks me, why does it only work with ant+ with 3rd party. The Ride control app is not using ant+ (apple devices do not have ant+) it is using bluetooth. Strava should be able to connect right in
