I have been offered the specialized display with my bike, but I have been advised there not the best in comparison to garmins and other gps units available.

Would a garmin 130 be suitable?
Looking to get some bike info displayed, battery, mode, speed and navigation would be great and the ability to see phone notifications.

The garmin atm is pretty cheap, I have a discount at halfords so would be able to get it for around the same cost as the specialized display, I wouldn't really want to spend much more

From my own experience and from others who I know have Garmins with their Specialized Turbo's, the eBike integration is somewhat sketchy. Mine doesn't display the eBike power or connect to the eBike sensor for quite a bit of the time. Means turning off the bike and back on several times. The speed/cadence sensor seems to cause issues with the Garmin as well - the Garmin keeps auto-pausing and then resuming when riding at low speeds, I fixed this by disabling that sensor in the Garmin and using the Garmin speed sensor fitted to the front wheel hub - but that means buying another accessory.

Not sure if this is a Garmin or Specialized issue but its a pain in the arse.

My Garmin also has lots of other problems, such as buggy firmware, sketchy GPS, crashing when moving the maps etc. All known problems on the Garmin forums and in their support. For reference mine is the Edge 830, the problems plague all of the Edge series.

In comparison BLEvo and Mission Control work well for me. Downside is to using my phone is battery life is crap in comparison to the Garmin (2-3 hours with GPS on vs 20 odd hours with the Garmin).
