Has anyone else had issues with breaking/cracking the skid plate on their decoy (the plastic cover under the motor)? I have a '22 model and have gone through 6 of them, so far.. They seem to be super brittle and I always have to keep a few on had bc lately, they're lasting me 3 or 4 rides (Arizona). I have thought of reinforcing them with a piece of sheet metal glued to the bottom for more protection but i'm not sure it's a great idea.. Thoughts?

That's sweet! Do you think it put the frame or motor at risk because it won't give like the plastic cover breaking?
no, it goes on over the plastic cover. the aluminum would bend if you took a crazy hit. But if you take a hit that hard it would probably cause damage whether you had the skid plate or not.

Sweet.

I would like to see a chain ring protector. Haven't smashed mine yet, but it is only a matter of time.

I just got a 2023 YT Decoy Core 3 a few weeks ago. On my first ride, a rock shot up and blew apart the lower battery fin - the little bolted on plastic piece that lays on top the motor protector. YT was cool but said it would be 'a while' to get a new one. I ordered the alloy bashguard from the link posted earlier and, ride 2, took a hit, bent the guard and cracked the plastic motor cover. Is this a huge design flaw?! Is it me? Anyone else? Looking to custom fab a all-in-one alloy replacement.

That sucks! Probably is a bad design, yeah. Flimsy plastic under a 55+lb bike flying over rocks is a bad move. I ended up using the link as well and purchasing the aluminum guard off of ebay- haven't had any issues since, though I haven't been on the bike much over the past few months. Hopefully it holds up. If I could find a guard (made out of steel, preferably) with more coverage, i'd def drop some cash to get one. Wouldn't mind a little more weight under the BB, either.
I ride with the flip chip in the high setting to give me slightly more clearance- makes it a bit easier to navigate tight corners, too. The bike still seems to kick up every rock in sight but If you're not flipped high, maybe that will help you alleviate some of the brutality :p It only took me a few mins of riding to get used to the geo change from low>high. Being a bit more upright is nice on the low back, too.

I did flip to high setting and I like it. Still plenty slack. And that monster wheel/tire upfront grinds it up and spits it back. I have a guy fabricating parts in steel to replace the plastic. I'll update the post when I get it, test it out.
