Antibacterial wipes finish your bike off lovely after cleaning ! They shine the frame . Make your plastic black again and even clean the disc brake rotors .

I await somebody telling me that a chemical used in them will make my bike slowly disintegrate ?

Benzalkonium chloride is often one of the main ingredients .. it not only cleans microorganisms , but it helps stop them growing again in the future .. so you're not only cleaning your bike now .. you're preemptive cleaning it for the future !

Probably got some nice moisturiser in there too, perfect for a shine.

On the downside . It kills fungus, bacteria and some virus's but not necessarily all viruses .. so probably a good idea that you save them for cleaning the bike rather than saving your life.

So - my bike is protected from most viruses but not all. And we don't know if Corona virus is killed or not by my wipes !
Do Specialized make a mask and goggles I could fit ? ?

They do .. but they cost twice the price of everyone elses .. they are really nicely finished, have great attention to detail and if you die wearing them - they replace them for free.

To save my Levo, it's not PPE the bike needs, its TPE - TCU protection equipment. Fingers crossed Spesh will roll it out before its to late.

Yep, it's a pain . I've started taking my TCU out when I wash it. I wrap the loose cable ends in cling film. Then put them back in the frame and wrap cling film around the hole in the frame. It seems to work but we shouldn't have this mither. Specialized really need to sort this problem out. Flippin bikes cost a fortune and we spend so much time worrying about this. Love the bike but I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known. Do other brands have this problem with the electrics ?

They really need to get it sorted

There were rumours of a new TCU a while ago, but nothing has appeared yet.

I use waterless wash now, saves a lot of time and not as messy. More importantly, no running water to get into the TCU or motor - till the winter, hopefully sorted by then.

I cover the tcu and battery port with ducktape and haven’t had any flashing light yet ! Been dry for weeks so only a wet rag job now ?

I've just put duck tape on and now I cant see my TCU. If I wipe it with antibacterial wipes will it help ?

I'm (nearly) on my 3rd e8000. First stopped working after 90 miles. Second got the deafly W011 message and started creaking like hell. So that's at my LBC waiting to be sent to Madison who are shut.

I always take huge care cleaning the bike. Light water/sponge never any jets.

So you are not alone. EMtb are great when working but reliability still seems to be an issue ?

Luckily still have my old Enduro 29 to go out for a bit of gentle exercise. ..in isolation I may add and no where near a city.

Stay safe all.

I haven't (yet) had problems with the TCU, thank God. But I wonder about 2 things related to this topic:

1. Why do they make us count/subtract bars instead of having a numerical count, from 10 down to 0 or 1?

2. Why does the bike/TCU start in 2/Trail? Seems it should start in 1/Eco and let us move it up from there.

1st world problems...

just on the anti-bac I thought they only killed bacteria not viruses unless they were bleach based or over 70% alcohol so mostly harmless against corona.
So I think a frame clean with them would be the best use!!!

I'm just making sure my blood stream has at least 70% alcohol in it.
