Polar Vortex time here in NY...I usually can handle the temps in the 20’s F but recently with the wind chill even with an inner liner I’m finding one or a few of my fingers start freezing . The rest of me is fine.
Who’s got a suggestion for a good glove/liner combo for these frigid days. So appreciative of your input, before I buy....

I use a pair of Ugg gloves and really like them. Use them sub -5°c 4÷ hrs riding and hands stay warm and comfortable. I also wear Ugg boots for winter riding. Feet also stay warm and dry and they stick to the pedals like they were glued on (in a good way). I've had both for several years and found them maybe the most comfortable boots I've owed.

I use C skins windsurfing gloves ( Neoprene) .......they are warm but also provide good grip whilst still being able to feel feedback through the bars.

Thanks....I've got plenty of wetsuit gloves......I surf out here year round and that's something I've considered....a thin neoprene glove could do it all well.

My hands have always been weakest link when winter riding.
I only trail ride as we have plethora of local trails and what I've found is choosing trails that ascend from the start........within 15 minutes I'm changing to a thinner glove.

Once my hands warm up, they stay warm for remainder of ride.

Oh, also like Uggs.

I mentioned using windsurfing gloves because for me ( and most windsurfers) they were lying around doing nothing. I tried them but they do not work for windsurfing. They are warm enough but they cause chronic forearm cramps. They work well for on the bike though.

So I windsurf without gloves in winter, and yes my hands get freezing quite quickly to the point of being numb . I know it is going to happen so I make sure I can get back to the beach before I can no longer grip the boom.

Then comes the painful part.

I swing my arms keeping my hands low to encourage blood flow to return. As it does the pain is really bad but only lasts a few minutes.
The amazing thing is, having done that, my hands stay warm enough not to go numb for a couple of hours on the water after that.
May be a tip for those that suffer something similar on the bike??

Endura do some good gloves. I have a pair of thin windproof gloves that feel like wearing a normal trail glove. Also have a heavier endura mt500 glove which is lovely and warm. I also find that keeping my core warmer results in warmer extremities.

Been out today for a couple of hours in the snow. 20 mins in, hands were cold & finger tips getting sore. Remembered reading your tip on here about swinging your arms about. (We used to do it’s as kids actually) tried this for a minute or 2, it really worked, couldn’t believe it. Top tip??????

I’ve got a pair of Keis heated motorcycle lining gloves... and I bought a pair of my regular Fox riding gloves in an XL (usually a M) to go over the top of them.

A bit fiddly to put wires up your sleeves, and to get 2 pairs of gloves on... and feel a bit clumpy on the bars - however even at -5degC, my hands feel reasonably warm.

If you can find these you can give them a shot, I've rided yesterday at -9 degrees and they held surprisingly well

I suffer from Raynaud's disease which causes smaller arteries that supply blood flow to the skin to narrow in response to cold or stress. Means I suffer very easily from cold fingers.
I just got myself a pair of Sealskinz Waterproof Heated Cycle Gloves. I love them.
I have only used them twice and it was only -2 degrees, but they definitely helped.
Firstly they are warm and well made gloves. then as a bonus you have the heating function.

It doesn't make your hands hot, but when you are biking, it is enough to keep the chill away.

If you are buying a pair, they are very tight. I normally have a size 9 hand, and on their table it sais this is a size M. but that was way too tight, so I sent them back and replaced with a L
