Cube say the stereo is a progressive design, so should work well with a coil, if the suspension is progressive, not seen the curve for the stereo so can't say, but coils tend to work well on progressives due to their linear nature.

You can pick up a coil shock easily enough, there's lots of 205mm x 60s out there, it's a metric trunnion shock, if you pick up a fox coil like a DHX2 then it'll fit easily enough with the same kit for the lower on your DPX2.

Sweet! Any fitment issues? I was thinking of trying it on my 2020 160 AT. How did you figure out the correct spring rate for your weight?

No fitment issue at all.
For the spring i suggest variable one ore 50lbs more the fox calculator.
My weight 72 kg, mounted 450-550 lbs

Yes, i prefer this one because of the first parts of the travel, more smooth

Use the TFTuned calculator to get your base spring rate and the progressive spring will start at the same rate as the linear spring.

I really don’t know.. read the specific about travel and force and make yourself some evaluation.
i choose one spring a little bit harder than my weight and use the regulation to fine tune it.

Guys, I'd heard that cube is a lineal system for stereo 160 and getting a coil with its lineal system iis not the best idea, it's better a X2 with tokens to get the suspension more progressive...

With the dpx2 is a challenge to level a smooth suspension and not to touch the ground all the time. Even with the coil, hit the stones would be more often and bottoms out...

So not sure if worths an upgrade over the dpx2 to say bye to a bunch of bucks for a X2 with tokens...

Finally i can report on this. i spare you the story why it took so long.
i ended up using an Marzocchi bomber cr with a canecreek valt coil.
i first tried the linear one .it work ok, but i had the feeling i was bottoming out too hard a few time , it was almost ok, so i do understand that many keep the linear coil.
but i switched to the progressive coil (like @ruppia ia did) i was still able to bottom out , but not as hard. so i'm still using full travel. i'm a bit high in the travel, with the pro's and contras.
I'm 90-95kg fully kitted. using 550-670lbs. (550lbs on linear)
it can just touch the frame if i push the coil to one side. but as soon as it sags a bit it has a lot of clearance.

to be complete :
* with the cane creek VALT spring you need also spacer rings

i read (Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC review - MBR) that the frame was too linear, which is actually not correct
here Cube Stereo Hybrid 2020 you can see it is quit progressive (not extreme but far from too linear) which actually confirms my experience

Lots of reports of people adding volume spacers to their air shocks. My buddy asked me about his bottoming out. Ez to add a volume spacer. Sounds like a linear system. Still shouldnt be a problem to add a coil. Id definitely add a progressive coil and id get it from "race only springs". High quality spring and they go up in weight by 25lbs rather than 50lbs so you can fine tune the right spring more closely to your weight. Ive been super impressed with the spring on both my progressive decoy and my linear meta am 29. Added mid stroke support makes it a ton better pushing through the corners and its still supple off the top. I havent fully tested it on drops with the progressive decoy yet but it was surprisingly good on steep trails where speed wasnt super fast. Coil just destroys air. Emtb's should all come with coil because E.

Which bombersize did you fit (you have a 160 right?)? the 205x65 or the 205x60 ? Have you fitted the cane creek 65mm in a 205x60 or? I'm about 66kg fully kitted so that would be a 400 lbs according to tfttuned or would you suggest otherwise (say 450 because of e)?

I'm also having a very hard time figuring out which coil length I have to get to fit it right - there are so many sizes... :-(

I seen a couple with a coil said it's set up for a coil more but the Float X on it is a 205x65 would you need to stick to the 205x65mm? Or could you go woth a 205x60 that is the part I'm abit stuck on finding an answer to they are all different yes, no maybe

Hi there, I have a 2024 action team 160 the float cube tune for the stereo 160 is 205x65 I'm just not 100% on these yet as new to the full sus was always hardtails I had! The 205x60 coil would that fit ok then on the 160? Really having trouble setting the sag in this airshock it's absolutely solid near max psi had to get a lezyne shock pump that could put more than 300psi in it! I just got it not tried it maybe the extra psi will do the trick but seems abit over kill for an airshock? it's not gonna be nice I can just tell its gonna be solid! Cheers Doug
