Cleaning Whyte e150RS

Really enjoying my e150RS, but boy, does it collect mud. How are you owners finding it around the rear linkages and back of the motor housing? I find it quite difficult to clean around there.

(I've also found my invisiframe is peeling off around the rear tyre/chain stay areas, which is annoying as the bike is only 200 miles old)

I do use that, but obviously that's about tricky around the motor areas.

Ignoring it works for me. Well, I let it dry and brush the worst off. And yes, the seat/chainstays take a bit of a beating. Sticks and stones get picked up.

If it’s wet and muddy I normally just hose it off while it’s still wet, comes off easier. Sometimes I leave it for days/ weeks then hose it off. When my bike has a good wash I also wax the frame with Autoglym HD wax and then the dirt comes off so much easier. Don’t have invisaframe because I am not that precious over riding scars. I bought my bike to ride, it’s not an ornament.

I just try and look after my stuff, that's all. Same with my car - I have a car to ride and use, but I try not to ding it etc.

That's not really a like for like comparison though ..unless you spend all of your time driving off road ..
I just think there is a certain inevitability that your bike is going to get a few bumps & scrapes ..that a plastic coating is going to do very little to protect ..

A ornament is something you just look at. My bike I like to look at, yes but I like to ride it more and like my cars I look after them but not scared to use them.

I use a Muc-off gear cleaning brush, it’s thin enough to be able to get in between the pivot point and the brush bristles are long enough to get into that recess underneath.
I must admit I have frame protectors on my bike, it represents an investment as far as I’m concerned and I intend to hang onto it for a long time to come but each to his/her own

The pro guards I have fitted keep worst of the crap off … this photo was mid way through a ride that included muddy woodland paths as well as a beach ride to get where it is here. As you can see the linkage is still clean.
I use a hose and a little bit of foam cleaner … i clean my trials motorcycles with pressure washer but never an mtb.

Sorry for the late reply mate, Yeah they look good, I must admit I don’t particularly like the rear Mudhugger but it serves a purpose especially at this time of the year too

The SicoMTB guards are really good, a little bit pricey but on a 6k rig worth the investment and fit is first class.
