Cleaning chains.

I use my MOABS 1 see photo so it is easy to pedal forwards for chain post ride chain clean. My back is so knackered I can't do the bending over thing.

then every month I take the chain off and stick it in a cheap ultrasonic cleaner.

I admit it is a Rolls Royce solution, but the ultrasonic cleaner was cheaper than 1 cassette, so has paid for itself several times over.

I would recommend it. Mine is quite small and only comfortably fits the chain and smaller sprockets from the cassette. Sprockets larger than 32T have to be done a few times, turning a little each time.
I bought a gallon of carburetor cleaner at the same time and dilute it 1/10 and then filter and reuse the liquid several times. I think any solvent and maybe even just soapy water might work, but my gallon of carb cleaner has already lasted several years, so not sure when I'll find out what else works!
The muck that comes off the chain is unbelievable, it really gets down into the rollers themselves.

That may have persuaded me then ive always got mucky bits about that need a good clean thank you ;-)

Just cleaned mine.....with a simple contraption......
