@Zimmerframe Not really. My two homes are New Zealand and SoCal. If it wasn't for corrupt socialist politicians I would have been living back there years ago, but sadly even if they all were forciby removed the damage done to California is too great so will stay in Godzone until the reaper takes me.
Dad was from New York and while I love visiting family I learned to hate that white crap at an early age. Forgot about that when visiting my sister in Michigan years back -for some reason a White Christmas seemed romantic. 6ft of snow between Xmas day & New Year kind of killed that too.

Uh huh.
Thinking about retiring there.
Did someone say retire??!

Whatever you do, don’t use Gorilla Tape when you retire. @steve_sordy had heaps of grief the last time he re-tired... ??

(Great pics btw. Green or Blue lake? I thought that section got closed because some people ignored the no swimming rule in one of the lakes? Can’t remember which lake it was...)

Both. I did the Forest Loop which starts on a nice gentle uphill section that cuts through the old Rock Drop - starts at the park to the left of the original bridge then wanders up past the mud pool then into it. Comes out at the old Rockdrop top entry and cuts across Arepa then goes up Tokorangi Pa Road. Past the water tank it drops down along side Tararewa Rd and down to Blue Lake. When you head back into the bush after a while you go up to the right rather than down to the left to Green Lake. They have blocked a bunch of the trails there due to swimmers, but from what I have heard it wasn't mountainbikers breaking the tapu, but friends and whanau visiting the rellies - we just got a bad rap. Anyways, flows along some forest roads then drops off into another new trails then back on forest roads until Mossy Loop/Baja Trail then drops out onto the paved section beside the Rotorua-Taupo Rd. If you fire into the first carpark there is a bit more single trail and some forest roads before coming out across the road from Planet Bike.

Going to have an official piss take No Boring Bits ride there Saturday 30th Jan.
Will be a slow one as mostly self powered bikes and rides of all ages.
