Chinese wheels

Anyone on the forum that ordered any Chinese wheels that you can recommend? I am going to build a lightweight CEF50 on a budget just for the sake of it. I already have a couple of Nukeproofs (one being the Carbon RS with the new SRAM motor), a Vitus, a custom Thok and a Rocky Mountain. I want to see what can be achieved under £3000. I already have a DVO fork that I bought new for next to nothing. Any advise or commentary would be greatly appreciated.

I had some "light bicycle" carbon wheels a few years ago. I found them too stiff. Rode like shit IMO. Decent deal and LB are ez to deal with, i just couldnt get past the ride quality. Easily deflected off anything with little to no compliance and poor tracking.
I know carbon wheel makers have tried to engineer compliamce into there wheels recently. I just take reviews with a grain of salt. Im not sure how successful theyve been engineering compliance and has that engineering trickled down to chinese manufacturers?

Well, I would not pretend to have the same level of R&D of a brand that asks for three times the price of EliteWheels.

I agree with you that online reviews are often even misleading.

I answered to the OP question providing an option. I think that for the price it is worth to try. But - again - I do not pretend to buy a top of the line carbon wheel set for the price of an entry level aluminum 🙂

I didnt quote your comment or reply to it. Just my limited experience with carbon wheels. Maybe theyre all awesome now. Personally i probably wouldnt buy any carbon wheels until i hear a ton of good reviews extolling the level of compliance comparable to aluminium. I'll stay tuned to this thread in case i hear that "ton"/fingers crossed
