Hi all.
After some advice with my Giant trance e+2, I had a smaller chain ring 34t from a 36t fitted.
Ive picked the bike up and now in the 2 highest gears 10,11 the chain is rubbing the chain at the lower jockey wheel. Is this due to them not taking links out of the chain. All was working fine before this change.

[QUOTE = "Silato, viesti: 85042, jäsen: 2035"] Hi all.
View attachment 16109 View attachment 16110 View attachment 16111 [/LAINATA]
Uusi ketju on liian pitkä, 2-3 niveltä.Mittaa vanha jos on tallessa.

That chain is too long! It may have been too long with the bigger chain ring as it was only two links bigger.

There are many different ways to set your chain length correctly (I can think of at least six), but you are best looking to see a few on YouTube and pick one. But whichever one you choose, test the bike by fully compressing the rear suspension afterwards. Some bikes will stretch the chain on full compression and if your chain is too tight, you will damage the mech.

Hi all thanks for your replies.
That's what I thought and it annoys me because when the bike shop offered to fit a 34t or 38t due to not having a 36t in stock I actually mentioned would it not affect my chain and they said they would sort it either way.
Obviously they didn't and the chain ring had to be retighted when I got it home. Won't be using them again.
I'll take a couple of links off and see how it goes.
Thanks again.

Its ok provided the chain is no longer rubbing on itself but you also need to what it is like with the suspension compressed. For a full guide on chain length check either the Park tools series of videos or KMC videos on You Tube. Nb if you remove a shock bolt to disengage the shock and check your chain length that way you need to thoroughly clean the threads and re apply locktite or similar to the thtead before torqueing it back up.....or it will come loose and then probably shear.

you need also ta adjust the b tension screw to allow the specified distance between the teeth on the upper jockey wheel and the teeth on the biggest cog of the cassette
from xt manual-
5 - 6mm
(When largest sprocket is a 42T sprocket or smaller)
8 - 9mm
(When largest sprocket is a 46T sprocket or smaller)

Hi,
I think it's OK in the biggest sprocket. My 10th gear probably need adjusting at the barrel slightly.
