Hey guys, so if using a chain wear tool, do you replace emtb chain at 0.5 or 0.75% ?
my chain tool has 0.75 and 1 on it (CC-3 park tool) - had this for years, now we have 11/12spd I’m wondering if the 0.5% is the best time to change ?

Ideally rotate 2 chains at consistent intervals and run the cassette into the ground. The ebike at least can show distance covered.

Hi, hope you don't mind my jumping into this thread but my chain is worn to 0.5 and is fairly close to 0.75. 800 miles on my 12 speed E160RS. New chain required. Do you have any recommendations?

I have the e160RS and my chain went to 0.5 really quickly, and then a few weeks later 0.75. I didn't replace it and it went off the scale so
I fitted a new chain and then it slipped and jumped all the time.
I re-fitted the old chain and reduced the B screw gap as recommended on here and I am still using it 800km later.
I have a new cassette, chain and chainring ready but will replace them all together.

I only know my chain on my 150RS as an SRAM Eagle 12 speed. Do I need to be shopping for? X01 XX1 GX NX which one please?

im replacing mine with x01 as I happen to have a spare, after that I’m going for GX at around £22 - Tredz seemed to be best price I could find but stock not due for a couple of weeks

Tredz say new stock due with their supplier 28/06/21 !
side question. I have used Tredz for years no problem. lately they are taking weeks to send stuff blaming COVID, but other suppliers delivery has not changed from a day or two. Do you have same experience or have I been unlucky? I'd like to support Tredz as I am S Walian, but not going to wait ages for stuff from one supplier when others are turning things around as normal

was looking to buy a spare chain myself so I have it ready, but same issue can't find a X01 or GX one in stock anywhere? Has anyone used anything different like a KMC etc?

In fact no one has stock of that either. WTF is going on with stock of items at bike shops! I means I can't really ride the bike as much as I wont have a chain ready if I need to replace it.

I‘ve used Tredz once, and despite them having an item “in stock“ what they meant was in stock at their supplier, so it took about a week to arrive. At first I was annoyed, but maybe they’re feeling the pinch and can’t afford to hold huge stock levels right now.

If I want something next day, Wiggle tend to be spot on, even on items ordered up until about 8pm the day before. I‘ve had my money’s worth from the premium membership fee, not only getting platinum prices on stuff, but free next day delivery on all orders over £20.

Has anyone used a 12 Speed XT chain on the sram ? I see some stock of that

this seems to suggest you can - personally I’d stick with same brand as it’s designed to work together, but if you can’t get hold of SRAM and need a chain it would be worth trying - it may not shift quite as good but better than nothing ?

For those desperate for an SRAM Eagle GX 12 speed chain you can get one in 8 days from The online bike shop that delivers | Mantel UK in the Netherlands for £34.79 all in,
I have followed your advice and done the same, but today I received what I am assuming to be a hoax txt from MYHERMES asking me to pay another £1.72 to get the parcel redirected. I have tried the tracking app using the code given but haven't been able to find it. Did your parcel get to you? TIA

Interesting, I am awaiting an XX1 chain from Mantel, and I too got (what I believe to be) a hoax text from Hermes the other day. Rather a co-incidence given I never normally get crap like that sent to my phone.

Fairly sure it's a hoax, I didn't go as far as getting to any 'redirect payment page' but it did say that delivery had already been attempted at 10.12pm yet the text came at 4pm the same day ;)

Plus, all the shipping info I have has been from UPS, and that currently says it's due for delivery today.

Oh and the XX1 in gold was £59.99 so it seems like I got a bit of a bargain compared to Gani above.

Yes, I didn't post on this thread until I received my item, just to be sure. It took 8 days from order to doorstep.

I think mine came with UPS.

Almost 50 miles since waxing my chain and it's still quiet. I am hoping to get 100-150 miles. It looks as though the driest April for many years suits a waxed chain.

hadn't seen this post but i have just ordered 2 from here with the intention of swapping them out every 150-200 miles rather than having 1 chain getting worn and the new one not sitting well in the cassette. granted it means a few wasted split links.

plus they are starting to get as rare as a new graphics card :poop: :D
