Chain Questions!

Hey guys. A few questions about chains I could use some help answering please.

1. Do I have to use an E-Bike specific chain?
2. My bike came with a 116 link chain. Can I buy a longer chain and shorten by removing link
3. My bike came with a KMC chain. Is this the defecto chain you guys uses?

1. No. Just use the correct chain for how many speeds you have, i.e 11 speed cassette = 11 speed chain
2. Yes, but not necessary. 116 link chains are available, I would only buy a longer one if 116 link sold out
3. KMC chains are fine, I've only ever used KMC on my accoustic bike. I'm only sticking to Shimano on my eeb because AFAIK the Shimano 12 speed works best with a Shimano chain

3. My bike came with a Shimano 120 link chain, but come the time for a new one, I couldn't get one, so I bought SRAM instead, which has never been a problem. For 12-speed I would stick to the same brand as the chainset. I don't know for sure that a Shimano chain will not work on a SRAM drivetrain (and vice versa), but it would be an expensive way to find out.
