Is the new Park Tool CC-4.2 a must to check chain wear or is the old CC-4. good enough to use on SRAM T-type Flattop chains?

according to one of the q&a's on pt's product page, the difference between the cc-4 & the 4.2 is....

the addition of the 1% wear mark on the CC-4.2.

I've recently bought a cc-4.2 but have no idea if it is any improvement compared to the cc-4 as I've not used one 🤭

The only difference I have noticed is the added 1% wear so I am wondering if it's just a way to make ppl buy a new. My old 4. still works an 0.5% don't go through the gauge.
