So go easy on me as 6 month newbie so haven’t known this before....
Pedalling and all is fine. Stop pedalling and hold the pedal in hand and the cassette moves every so often causing a manic noise...
Fault and cure from you wise people out there... pretty please.

Could be many things leading to tightness/drag in the free hub. I suffered the same.
Free hub could be gunked up and needs a clean - Pull apart free hub, clean it out and re lubricate (I prefer to use oil). Plenty of YouTube videos showing how. I like to do this service every 2000 km

Bearings could need changing if it’s an old bike.

Over tightening of hub nuts (the bits that screw onto either side of the hub.

Evening all. I had this problem a few weeks back and was cured by my LBS taking the cassette and hub apart, cleaning and re-greasing. I went out today in the hell and damnation weather, water and mud and now have the same problem back? (same crappy weather conditions as the last time)
Is this to be expected when you ride in kak conditions are should I be replacing something, if so what and with what? Help please. ?
