Hello everyone, I have trek rail 9.7 carbon.
I saw a video where a guy made a carbon cover for his rail. Has anyone done something like this?
I'm thinking of trying to make myself a similar thing out of carbon.

Has anyone tried it or know where to buy and at what price?

I could be wrong but I thought the battery cover was carbon on the Rail 9.7. I better check mine. I like the idea of removing the locking mechanism and using an Allen key instead.

I’ve seen some plastic or carbon skid plates but I prefer the alloy type. They do tend to crack when struck, which is why I keep a spare.

I was able to order a cover that matched my ‘21 Rail 5 (matte olive/green) from local trek store.
at what price? They just write to me in a personal message that they would like the same lid, but I don’t know what an honest price to set.

I finished making the carbon cover. its weight turned out to be slightly less than 100 grams.
I also removed the lock with the battery mount and made the battery mount from an aluminum angle with 2 bolts, now I don’t need to carry keys with me to remove the battery.
I also plan to replace the keyhole hole with a power delivery type-c connector for powering flashlights and recharging gadgets.
I saved about 600 grams

The battery mount was made in the likeness of this drawing. Attention! Make the frame for the holes in the frame in place.
