I have a new Pivot shuttle AM . 29" rear.
My other bike is specialized Levo 27 " rear tire.
Never have hit on levo.
I been moving seat up more but still hitting .
Should I have flip chip on high, its on low now, or keep raising seat.
Some time I like to sit on seat to rest legs rather than stand all the time.

I always thought that your legs offer the best suspension …especially if you have two of them.😉

Changing the flip chip may also change the geometry of your bike, but I don’t think it will make your landings or bumps any smoother. (Btw, I’m not familiar with your model of bike, but I believe that most mtb’s act the same).

Experiment with different air pressure in your shock, or different strength of coil. (Depends). Lower your seat with the dropper, or install a longer dropper if that’s possible. Maybe a 170mm or 200+mm dropper.

Check the sag of your shock and fork…but remember, sag is just number.

I never sit on the seat when going over big bumps. I used to get my arse buzzed when descending when on a 29er, but that's different. I fitted a rear mudguard of the blade variety. It didn't stop the contact, but the mudguard stopped mud and stones being shoved into my shorts. The problem was not resolved until I switched to a mullet bike.

Is this a wind up?
Why are you sitting on the seat when going over big bumps??
You should be stood up on the pegs, knees slightly bent ready to absorb the impact.

Going up, ride with your seat up at the correct pedalling height.
Going down or on the flat if you are going at speed, NEVER, EVER ride over big bumps seated. NEVER!
That is a sure fire way to get shot over the handle bars and become serverely injured.

Don't do it.

Stand up with the seat down and absorb the bump with your legs. If your legs get tired, Ride more and get more fitness...

I don't get the landing big jumps seated part but....

That's the price you pay for having the wagon wheel out back man, It's eventually happened to me on every bike I've tried with a 29" rear. Very rarely if ever with the 27.5.
