What's everyones thoughts on braided hoses?
Going to order hope tech 4 v4 but they only come with normal hoses, in the colour I want bronze I found a set left with standard hoses but was swayed towards braided ! Should I stick with braided or get the colour I want and have normal hoses?

Thanks in advanced

I had braided hoses on my Tech 3 V4's and decided to go for regular hoses on my Tech 4's.

Mainly because after a few years of having the braided hoses they began to "stain", in-between the clear plastic that covers the metal braided hose. Also a little more of a faff cutting the hose and installing the barb too.

I'm sure the outer diameter is a little thicker too so could cause some tight squeezes through cable ports etc.

Performance wise hope say there is no difference between braided and regular hoses.

They do look cool though. 🤣

If braided don't offer a significant improvement in performance, why bother?

If you have to shorten the braided lines it’s a pain in the butt dealing with the replaceable end at the master cylinder. You have to trim back the steel braid to get the compression olive in the right spot. If you go with the black unbraided hoses it’s a lot easier to shorten the original hose length. I have both types of hose on two different bikes.

Literally just installed the tech 4s on my Wild with braided hoses (last night). Apart from being hard to cut, they were fine. Used the Clarkson tool to install the olive and barb and the little barb to join the old hose and pull the new one through from the rear caliper upwards. All fine. Used the Total Bleed Solution kit to bleed both once installed and that's such an easy process compared to Sram too. Can't say I'm able to tell the difference between braided and normal though...

I don't know for sure, but I read somewhere that braided hoses don't expand as much during braking, so that the brake feel is firmer. Must be marginal though, even if true.
