So as a follow up trying to help my friend who had is bike stolen today.

Local dealer contacted Bosch direct on my friends behalf asking is there is a stolen register available to Bosch dealers should someone try to get the bike unlocked when purchasing a replacement
display.
The answer. No!
So IMHO paying for the security upgrade is a waste of time, this was also echoed by local dealer.
As stated in a previous post :
“If you loose or brake your Kiox you have to provide Bosch with proof of purchase before its deactivated and a new one sold to you”
