The bike corner… my Roscoe 8 and Trek Rail accompanied by the snake venom street glide… the garage gets me in trouble with the wife often

It does the trick until I can replace the door... hopefully this summer.
I bought some polystyrene-backed aluminium foil that is designed for the walls behind radiators. It came in big rolls similar in size to blown wallpaper. I stuck it on both garage doors with standard wallpaper adhesive. One roll to a door, each costing £10, plus adhesive.

Here is a before shot (with all the garage crap piled in front of it to make room to work on the other door). Next to it is the after.

Not only did it make the garage warmer in winter, but the main objective was to make it cooler in the summer. Those doors face mostly West and wow! did they get hot and radiated their heat into the garage! The unexpected bonus was the light level in the garage nearly doubled.

What’s the Maxxis High Roller packaging used for ? Is that now your pull handle to open the door from the inside ?

I have no idea now why that was there, it isn't there now!

Both those doors are bolted shut with two sliding bolts, in addition to the usual locks that up and over garage doors come with. One pf the two bolts can be seen at the bottom left of the second picture. The doors can only be opened from the inside now.

And here I was thinking you’d upcycled a handy engineered solution to those pesky wire pull handles that always break :)

That's a pretty good idea. I've never seen this before.. If all goes to plan, we will replace the door something before this summer.
