Bit random this post but had to share.Few weeks ago I went on a search for WiFi security cameras to keep an eye on my ebike and cars.My search came to an end on a site called “Wish” basically a China site selling copies etc.It was here I found a wifi hd camera for the price of £12 worth the risk I thought.10 days later it turned up and it’s bloody brilliant.Check it out. This thing sends intruder snap shots to your phone as well as video. Its night vision is like day,you can move camera around using your phone app.For the money it’s the nuts

Have you got the full link? Could be useful to see what the Labradumbarse gets up to during the day.

Perhaps it is because I am an IT security professional, but the sceptic in me does wonder where a £12 IoT device sourced direct from China is sending your data. Periodically pushing a few stills plus the geo location stealthily back to a threat actor would be a rather clever way to identify juicy targets for theft. Even if they didn’t act directly they could sell the information to someone local who could.

If it has a GPS chip it is a very valid concern.

It could geolocate pretty well without it. I'm less worried about passing it back to the manufacturer and they having their ground team come and rob you, as it just having terrible security and some mildly smart local thiefs connecting to it. Surely everyone has watched Person of Interest?

Exactly. IoT devices are notoriously open from a security perspective and often unpatchable, so there are lots of vectors for them to be exploited.

No gps chip that i know of.It could be said of all security camera's that they could be hacked i suppose. I think using a camera as only line of defence from thieves would be a mistake. In my case it isn't and i would not personally use this in doors showing my movements etc.
But remember this product sends picture instantly to my phone, so even if spotted and smashed it would be to late.Still stand by this as being great product
