Simple to use and seems fairly sturdy and stable...

Reckon battery out wheel out with a little folding step ladder, should be simple enough.

I agree. I have dismissed the idea. It's not just the weight of the bike, I honestly do think a Saris Bones 2 would handle the weight of 21 kg with the battery removed. You can fit a sleeve to cover the battery compartment to counter the water ingress issue but it is also the faff of having to extend the car lights and number plate as I don't think it's possible to get the bike high enough to leave these clear.

What would be handy to know is if anyone has any handy tips for making getting the bike into the back of the car any easier. Ideally some form of sliding rail arrangement. The best I've come up with is a couple of sheets of plastic tarp used so that one slides/ruckles on top of the other. I've also used a piece of ply to cover the gap that is formed by the joint in the seats that catches the pedals.

Get a big fugly MPV. Kids seem to like it and personally I don’t care what my car says about me. That’s an XL Levo SL in the picture.
When the Fam is travelling I use the Thule XT tow bar mount.

Solution :

So far It’s been solid and I’ve tested it up to 70mph with no drama at all.

How does it work when coming back from riding with muddy bike? Wash the bike before?

If you can, but as the bike doesn’t physically come into contact with the car it’s fine to just install as it is If it’s dirty.

Halfords Advance 2Bike Rack. 30KG per bike so suitable for eebs. Max wheelbase is claimed to be 114cm but S3 Kenevo SL and medium Rail go on OK.

Tilts for boot access too.

It’s not as polished as a Thule but it’s less than half the price.
