I love beer and will try any beer I haven't seen before that is served on the bar through a beer engine. But I don't really care for bottled beer. I will drink it of course, for heavens sake, of course I will, especially if there is nothing else! But my home drinking beer tastes are very low brow and I don't care who knows. I like cans of John Smiths Extra Smooth 3.6%. There I've said it! I'm out and proud! Two of my drinking buddies despair of me; they can't understand why when I like so many draught beers that I drink John Smiths at home. I guess it takes me back to my early drinking days and what I grew up with.

My son-in-law has worked for two different breweries and he loves fruity acidic and very hoppy canned beers, well I assume he does because that's all he offers me. But he also buys me a wide range of beers, as though he is determined to educate me. I don't need educating, I can recognise a beer when it's three pints away from the bottom of the barrel and know its time to drink something else until I see the landlord change the barrel. I have come to loathe "Hipster Beers" !

Am a massive fan of Vocation in Hebden Bridge. You can get some of their beers in the supermarket, but the website has a much better range. Something for everyone, including your 10%+ TIPA and imperial stouts :) Have gone through most of the range (blame lockdowns!) in the past 12 months, with only one sour that was a bit too wild for me.

I'm given cases/boxes of beer as a thank you gesture pretty much every month. But it's often brewdog or some other "craft beer" and I much prefer basic mass produced big brand premium lagers so Ive always just given them away to mates.
But this weekend someone offered me a cold craft beer and asked if I wanted a "tops" OMG.. What a game hanger..
