Battery Storage

At the moment my bike is stored in a secure outdoor lock up. The temperatures in there does get cold in the winter so I would prefer to remove my battery and store it indoors at the recommended charge level of 60%. What is the ideal way to store the battery inside? I normally store my Li-Ion light batteries in an explosion proof bag, would this be the preferred method for my e-bike battery? Many thanks

I am using this box plus an explosion proof bag, the box is recommended for a 750w max battery, according to the manufacturer's specifications... I hope it will be enough if one day the battery fails

Can you get your hands on an old safe or an ammo can? I read on here someone uses a repurposed oven to store all his batteries.

Wow! Where did you find that? I didn’t think lithium ion batteries required those kinds of bags/containers for storage. I do know that LiPo batteries do though. That’s how I store all my LiPo batteries for my RC’s, in LiPo designated bags.

I am curious though now and will have to look into this further.

I have heard through the night ride groups of stories of light batteries catching fire during charging for a ride that evening. But they are a couple of years old and were not name brand lights/batteries.

For long-term storage (winter months) I store mine in a metal tool box (fwiw) in the (cool) basement at 40%.
Colder (below-freezing) temperatures would be even better for the battery chemistry but the connectors might not be able to handle it and that could create problems.

I got mine sitting in a bag thats the same material used for my lipo batteries but I'm not too concerned about the bike batteries, The Lipos though are in the lipo bag and ammo cases.
