Battery roulette.....

Anyone else played this silly game?!

I did a 40 mile ride yesterday, had 50% battery left this morning, so thought sod charging, let’s reverse the route, and see if I can get home without charging the bike. Got just over a mile from home, and the battery died halfway up the final steep hill!

I'm not giving up, and will see if I can get the battery to die just as I arrive home, one day!

Am I the only one, or is this common practice?

Twice - I've managed to have it die within 20 meters of the house !

Unfortunately, the number of times I've run out of juice between 1km and 8km of the house is pretty significant, so I can't really claim a win there.

Maybe we should start a competition, how far from home when you ran out of juice!
Sounds like a Seinfeld episode to me. Not the best for the longevity of expensive battery packs. My recommendation would be to operate in the 80%-20% band as much as possible. It’s fine to operate outside that but if range requirement is predictable then why not treat it nice. Charge to full every month for cell balancing.
