Battery discharge if left plugged into charger.

I have the shimano based Jam2 so the in-frame battery that you can't remove to charge.

Thinking I was being clever and having read that leaving the bike fully charged degrades the battery over time, I bought an app controlled plug (Kasa), the thought being I could charge the bike remotely before I was due to go out on it.

So charged the bike in anticipation of the next ride, but work and life got in the way so never managed to get out. Turned the charger off remotely (actually was on a timer so switched off automatically) but as the bike is locked in the garage, the charger was left attached.

About a week later I went to the bike as I wanted to install the stunlocker app, only to find it completely flat. Charged the battery again to 100% (incidentally battery health on stunlocker shows 100% still) removed from charger and battery is now holding charge fine, so definitely related to leaving the charger plugged in.

Anyone else had this issue? Is it a known 'thing'?

Thanks
M

That stored energy has to have gone somewhere.
Maybe you sent your 378Whr to the national Grid? But I doubt you will get any credit on your electricity bill. :(
At 14p/KWhr you'd only get a credit of 5p, probably not worth the cost of letting you know.

I did note the blue ring on the power switch remained on, I was hoping this was going to be a good way of charging when needed but I guess I will need a plan B
