ARI Timp Peak Comp

New ARI Timp Peak in "poor man's" config. No SRAM or FOX or Rox, just DVO and sensible Shimano mechs. Suspension is stiffer than the Fox that are on my Wire Peak Pro but not objectionably so. New ep801 motor is much quieter than the E8000. Range may be a bit improved but I'll need to get some longer days in before that is confirmed. Very sound CF emtb for not much coin, especially when compared to the boutique brands where I would have to pay 2x the amount. The color is not what I wanted but the delivery time on the grey/black bike would be 30 days or more so I went with what would keep me riding. So far, the color is growing on me....

i like the color. I am a fan of the DVO suspension on my Delano Peak. The Wire Peak elite I had also had the DVO fork (Diamond for Ebikes), but it didn't have the OTT like the Diamond on my Delano. Much prefer the D1 to the D3 I had on the Wire. That said, most of the time the D3 on my Wire was fine. I had a Topaz on that bike as the original Rockshox Monarch developed a leak within the first couple rides. The Topaz was a definite upgrade.

That Onx looks like a great longer travel fork. I think that one also has the OTT feature as well right? With some work, you can get that fork the way you want.

Travel is 170mm and a step up (?) from my WPP @ 140mm. No OTT on this model, which I think I prefer. More complicated setup is not my preference and I've run the full gamut of adjustable suspension on everything from road race motorcycles to bicycles. FWIW, no real issues with the fork so far, easy to set and it's doing that suspension thing we all know and love.

More work to do on the shock. I'm set at 170psi on the bladder and air pressure is 200psi. That should be on the high end of the firm side for my weight and I'm blowing through the stroke. I'll call Ari and get their thoughts. I may just go to a coil spring shock because air shocks have always seemed less consistent (even my $$$$ Fox shocks) than coil spring shocks, (Penske, Ohlins, KYB, Sachs, etc...) I've always wanted to try one on a bicycle so maybe now is that time. FWIW, I have been able to dial in sag and travel for both this DVO and my Fox air forks pretty easily and they seem to provide a consistent ride quality.

I'm waiting for mine to ship, any day now. Can you fit a full size water bottle in the bottom cage or just the standard size?

I'd run a smaller bottle. That has the possibility to wear through the shock after extended use.

I was surprised at the comments about DVO shocks and fork being "poor mans config". I briefly had a DVO Topaz T3 and I loved it. DVO on a new bike would not put me off.

Poor man's config was with respect to the DVO only being on Ari's lowest priced EMTB offering.

I've run a bunch of suspension on bikes and motorbikes. The DVO kit on my Ari is pretty good stuff. No complaints and I'm not looking to swap it out.

I ended up going with the Fidlock option but have to use the 12 ounce bottle. I am going to try this set up, too. Thanks!

The shock can is Aluminum and the bottle soft plastic. I may wear through the bottle but.....

It would be nice if it worked like that but it doesn't. All it takes is a bit of grit and moisture to create a valve grinding type paste and boom. You will wear a divot in your nice expensive shock in that spot.

At the very least put some protective tape there and replace it as the tape wears.

PS I wore a divot in one of my carbon frames with a bottle close like that. Its a constant rattle, constant vibration and constant movement. All very bad combos to engage abrasion.
