Apple Air Tag, cheap protection

So if you are an apple guy like me you need to order one of the new apple air tags. buy one and hide it on your bike. Not saying you will recover it for sure if it gets stolen, but for 29 it is worth a chance

Yeah its a very interesting idea to try. There needs to be a well hidden place to store the tag, that also isn't restricting the Bluetooth range. its also probably only a good solution in regions where apple devices are prevalent...but that probably aligns well with ebikes.

Good idea. As long as Apple doesn't get into rent-seeking with the Airpods and the "FindMy" app it's worth a try.

Does not work unless other iphones are around its bluetooth range. So ungrouded areas have a low chance to acquire location.

From what I’ve read, if the thief who steals your bike also has an iPhone then they will soon know your bike has a tracking device in it as they will get an alert saying an air tag is near them.

apparently this feature is designed to stop people being tracked by someone else e.g. someone hides a tracker in your rucksack without you knowing.
