Anyone regretted switching to an emtb?

Never looked back. The EMTB lets me go further and faster. Actually my EMBT is making me a better downhill rider. Takes more skill to run a heavier bike down the black diamond stuff.

Yes, I dislike my EMtb, for the riding I do and would change back in a heart beat. If my heart would beat properly that is. Too many Twats on ebikes now, bring them down.
it’s a means to an end for me
Yea sell the eMTB and go back to a aMTB if that what U enjoy riding, I am sure your cardiologist would not object.

Whats this amtb crap ? ?
Its just an mtb..
Save yourself a nano second on the keyboard by getting it right ..
Well I have a group of friends that MTB (acoustic aMTB) and a group of friend that eMTB, if I use the the term MTB in ref to eMTB I get shit from the MTB group, so I use the term aMTB and eMTB keep everyone happy :)

Before electric mountain bikes( emtb"s..being the abbreviation) there were just mountain bikes ..( mtb's..being the abbreviation)..quite where the letter a comes into this I've really no idea ..
Every magazine publication that I've read in this country over the last twenty years refer to mountain bikes in abbreviated form as Mtb's..so quite why we need to refer to them as amtbs / acoustic / analogue is complete nonsense ..or is it just people trying to be trendy ? ?

55 so been riding a good number of year. Using an MTB for fitness was a big thing for me so was originally anti EMTB but along with the motorhome, its he best thing I've bought. I'm doing many more miles and it even prompted me to upgrade my manual bike so using that more as well

Not at all. But I still enjoy riding my Stumpjumper. I’ve even upgraded my forks (180mm) and shocks (coil) on the Stumpy because I still enjoy riding it.

Xmas ride out today with a group of mates, roughly 20 miles.A couple of them don't have ebikes so I took my old non motorized hard tail out for the first time since I got the ebike in June.
I enjoyed the ride but it was nowhere near as much fun as on the ebike.
As one of the ebike riding lads put it, on an ebike it's about 10% suffering and 90% fun, where as on an a normal bike it's 10% fun and 90 % suffering ?.
I think he was about right.
Merry Christmas ?

Two replaced hips and a pacemaker later all I can say is that I too regret not getting one sooner. Getting old didn't help either, but I see plenty of younglings digging Emtb as well.

For an ex tri-athlete, road racer and long time MTB guy I'm thankful for them as I still get to ride.

I've also had my gallbladder removed - but doubt it affects my riding any...

I went back and forth. Had a 2020 e-Sommet which really was an excellent bike. The climbs I did with that thing I thought I would kill the motor. The downhill with the Sommet was brilliant. I did sell it though after a few months hard use. Built up a Rune V3 which I have been on since. I did order another ebike last week and hopefully will get some good use out of it.

25kg EMTB is much much more easier and lighter than 450 Honda CRF. You get almost the same experience..one could say that even better. No oilchange, easier to wash, easier to transport, easier to..everything. It's legal to ride with bike 90% where you can walk.

It depends on what direction you are coming to EMTB world.

It’s been a life changer for me. I’m 70 years old with two bad knees. I was riding my Stumpjumper less and less until a friend had me try his RadRover. I bought one, rode 2k miles the first year - and never looked back. Been riding Levo Comps for the past two years. Aside from the shitty ebike support from LBSs in my area (Chicago), riding an emtb has been a godsend. I hear the ‘you’re cheating’ bullshit from time to time on the trails but mostly from dickheads half my age. Wait until they put another 35 years on those knees - then let’s see who’s ‘cheating’.

I was looking at this old post and just wondering if any of those with previous opinions have changed in the last 12 months? I have a 2020 Rail 9.7 and thinking of going back to Slash. I have really enjoyed owning the ebike. However, I like the increased fitness from the regular bike, I prefer the downhills without the drag of the motor above 25km/hr and none of my friends have e-bikes!

New Trek Rail appears to be a lot more expensive. Are the values of used ones holding up? I can't currently justify having two expensive bikes.

How you increased your fitness by doing more miles on eMTB, you will meet new poeple on the trails as you are riding more and make new friends:) If you want to stay fit with your existing friends on MTBs, I would say ride in low power mode or (No Power) and when they are done do 2 or 3 extra laps.

I've had my moments but then put my foot down ( accelerate) going up hill and it disappears in a puff of dust 😉

OK.. I'll sit on the fence.... sort of.
I do love my new ebike and don't regret buying it at all, but as long as my knees will let me, I'll keep using my 'normal' bike as much as I can. The beauty of the ebike is if I'm feeling tired or I'm in pain it let's me still go out and have fun without dreading any hills we have to go up. Will I ever enjoy it on the downs as much as my Enduro.... I don't think so.

No regret at all, but it's 100% my second bike. I reckon it's another 10 years before it might be my only bike, and even then I'd hope it would be an SL of some sort.

Good lord no. I can now do 15 runs at my local bikepark rather than 5.
I could swap batteries and carry on if my arms and legs weren't jelly by this point.
I ride a bike for fun, not fitness. I'll never buy a pedalbike again. Well maybe a DH bike as I do love them. But it would only get used a few times a year, so a bit of a waste of money.

Best thing I ever bought. Use my Slash now and then, but I love going flat out on my Rail. The only fitness level that has dropped a bit is pure leg strength. My heart rate is usually about the same on my ebike and my analogue. Maybe 5% less when I’m riding my ebike. Fun is more important than fitness to me, as are descending as opposed to ascending
