Anyone had this Shimano e8000 issue?

My Commencal meta sx stopped working for me this winter. I would try to power it on but only the power button would light up briefly but the computer never would turn on. Took it to a shop and weirdly enough the shop guy presses the power button and she turns on! Take bike home and it won't start up for me. I take it back in and leave it with the shop. I got a call from them yesterday and the shop guy says the shimano on/off bottom has its own small battery that was almost out of juice. Then said they had the part to recharge it backordered from shimano for like a year now but they got the bike to power up and told me the battery will charge itself from the main battery if you keep powering it up. I haven't gone to pick my rig up yet but this seems strange that it's not a replaceable battery and what separate charger does shimano have that recharges it?

Wondering if anybody else has had this issue.

There was a phase where a lot of people were having this problem. New bikes were arriving and wouldn't power on because the power on button battery was flat. There was a work around which I'm sure someone will chime in with.

Just push the button on the battery and then the power button will work. My Merida has a cutout in the frame to allow you to get to the button with a 4 mm Allen key. By the time you finish your ride the rechargeable in the button will be charged and no more problems.

My shop just got back to me. The power button does have a small rechargable battery in it that went dead. They needed to update the firmware to get it to charge. Haven't picked it up yet but they say it's working.

My bike went unused for a few months and battery must of died as it charges while bike is on and draws from main battery to charge. Something to be aware of in the future.
