here is mine...

Living in Canberra and having dodged the many COVID lock downs and no-gos into other states / territories i booked solo mtb trip to Tasmania (Australia).. (the wife giving me a 7 day pass.)
So 7 hours drive to ferry, 1 night ferry crossing then half day drive to bike park...10 km in on 40km epic ride , my first day/ride, i do a pedal strike and go over the bars at about 30km/hr... as luck haves it I land in ferns but get up a bit sore and sorry... thinking that could have been a lot worse.. at end of ride and as the adrenaline wears off i start to really hurt and then comes the realization i might not be riding tomorrow. Actually the next day i realized i had stuffed my back big time and thus that was the end of my trip.

Good news the Focus Jam2 was not injured !!

We go to derby each year for a couple of weeks. On my first ride of the first day (a few years ago), I failed miserably on a relatively easy obstacle and fell off the edge. I can remember falling backwards, seeing my bike disappear in the distance above me, thinking "this is going to hurt". I connected with a tree before hitting the ground, smashed my helmet. I managed to keep riding for the two weeks albeit with a dodgy neck and head.

Yeah was meant to spend 4 days in Derby after St Helens.. At least you were able to keep riding..must have been full on if it smashed your helmet.

See ya in Derby :)

The FSA 170mm cranks on the Jam2 are sooo long! They hang way past the pedals.. Definitely something to consider downsizing. Lots of companies nowdays switching to smaller crank sizes on ebikes, specialised going 160mm now. I recently downsized for sizing and it feels so much better. Reduced pedal strikes is a nice side effect.

I got chased through a forest in the middle of the night by knife and axe wielding maniacs who were making owl noises when out for a ride with some mates once. Does that count?
Were the mates you were riding with the knife and axe wielding maniacs making owl noises and chasing you ?

thanks for the advice. will look into that this week. Come to think of it i only really pedal strike on this bike and hardly ever remember doing it on my acoustics.

Yeh or you drive 3.5 hours to spend time riding for 5 days. Forget your bikes battery charger ?

I once took the kids out for half a day of riding, about 1 1/2 hours drive away; they were kicking off and fighting so much that when I packed the van, I was so distracted I forgot to pack my bike! I had to run the entire ride!
