Any reason I shouldn’t buy an Orbea Rise?

Looking at getting the aforementioned bike. Not keen on the look or weight of full fat e-bikes. My LBS is an Orbea stockist but even without that I like the look of it and the battery (with range extender) and EP8 rs motor are just right for me. I’d go for the M20 model and swap the Fox 34 for the 36 and change the dropper post. As mentioned I’d also get the range extender. So come on then folks, tell me why I’m making a massive mistake. ?

I bought an M20 with Fox 36, DPX2 and four piston Deores as upgrades a couple of weeks ago. It is my first emtb and I only have 250 km on it but I have no regrets. It is a great bike with a great geometry. Compared to the Canyon Neuron CF 9.0 it replaced it is better in every way except weight of course.

Obviously the motor helps but I find the geometry much better than in the Canyon where my 91 cm inseam pushed my ass and weight on the rear wheel in steeps. Not so with the Rise. Also in fast bends I no longer have to weigh the front but just stand in the middle.

The motor is powerful enough for everything I ride up and I hardly ever use Boost. I had plans to get the Range Extender but considering I can do 41 km ride with 800 m vertical using only 56% of battery I don’t think I will need one.

The only gripes I have had so far is the non-drive side crank that came off on a ride and was suddenly just hanging from my SPD shoe. Luckily going uphill… There is a service bulletin by e*13 on it. Second thing is the SLX derailleur with Deore cassette which I just can’t seem to get dialled perfectly. Maybe something is slightly bent somewhere.

It’s a superb bike. If you want an emtb that feels like an analogue one then this is pretty close.

? I doubt that, I can’t even pre order one yet at my LBS. I’ve still put a deposit down with the spec I want and I’m on the pre order, pre order list!! Expected delivery 2022. ?

i like what you are saying about the cornering, could it be the longer than usual reach
(compared to levo) do u know where you fit in compared to the average? My legs are 3 cm shorter than average for my size, so I feel cramped on my medium levo. I also share the opinion from the first post about how this bike is spot on, right in he middle of the levo SL, and a Levo (that use now) WITH. Abig range extender, or two, or three. IMO this is the best bike for long range, power to weight including batteries, the SL just isn’t powerful enough for the user to last that long.Specialised made a mistake with their current range, there is a hole in the shape of the rise.

Just managed to place my order today to compliment my Canyon CF9 and will hand the Cube down to Mrs C. Wanted a M20 with some upgrades (as suggested above) but was told than any amendment greatly risks a delay so went for the standard. First drop of 2022 models in October.

I hope that the 2022 model doesn’t have a major change (sorry) as it would be really weird to get a bike I ordered a month ago, 3 months after the new model is launched, I hope they will be flexible enough to deliver 2022 bikes to all that receive their order after October.

That must have been close to the M10 cost with those upgdades on? Also you have a Deore cassette on the M20? As i have SLX on mine which was stock

I would have thought a longer reach would require more front wheel weighting, and at 70km with 4000ft of climbing on 1 range extender, I wouldn't say the SL was short on range!

That’s very close to the spec of my M20 aswell. Fork, shock and brakes upgraded. I’ve also changed the dropper post and tyres which I would still have changed on the M10. Can’t remember exact number right now but I’m sure it was about £600 cheaper than having an M10. I’m happy with the wheels and SLX group set on the M20 which I think were the other differences.

Exactly my thoughts plus it was the M20 that had been preordained by the LBS. Drive train a consumable and on my Cube the lower end NX has been fine.

I don't know about all models but they are expecting mine to be the same

yes of course, longer reach would require more weight.
70km sounds like a lot, is that in trail ?
i'm interested in much longer rides, far over 100k, maybe 150 or so, with decent power, i ordered the bike with two extenders, for a total of 870 WH
