Advice on buying a bike online rather than a shop.

Hi all.
Looking to buy a new bike (turbo levo expert) from cycle revolutions and just wondered if anyone had used them and what they thought of the service.
Also if anything should go wrong with it would my local specialised shop(Nottingham) carry out any warranty work free or would I have to deal solely with Cycle Revolutions.
I know this is probably a dumb question but I’ve always dealt with a shop rather than buy online.
Any advice much appreciated.

Why not use your local shop? Price? You don’t seem to have a history with the shop you are planning on using.
Your contract is with the shop you buy from so you could end up paying for labour if you chose to get warranty work done elsewhere.

I bought online and I'm currently going through a warranty claim with my bike creaking abit when pedalling and also dropper post hasn't worked since day one. I bought from chain reaction. Although bike is ridable and fine to do so I want it to be right and while in the first 30 days put in a claim. They've said to take it to a bike shop and if it costs under £30 to fix they will pay for it or I can return it. Obviously this has got my back up a bit and have said I want to return it now for a new one as still in 30 days. As I'm sure any bike shop is going to charge more than £30 to even look at motor and dropper post. And it will cost me time in gertlltting it there. So now waiting to hear back from them again seeing how I return or swap. If this was a bike shop I bought it from I'm sure they would have just said bring it back and we'll have it sorted for you and that would be that. This is the difference :/

I would just like to keep it and they pay for full warranry cover at local bike shop. Simple for me and they don't get a used returned bike. If however it all got a bit funny I would return for refund for faulty goods and then look at a 2018 levo ?????

My local specialised shop has not got any stock and won’t be getting anymore for the foreseeable future.
Nearest shop with stock is a bloody long way away hence the question.

Fair enough. Have you tried Berkshire Cycles? Also, Leisure Lakes are punting out their Levo demo bikes very cheap.

I bought local-ish. 40 miles to my supplying shop. Glad I did, I've had a new motor under warranty and I'm going there on Saturday to get a replacement rear wheel that they've ordered after my original developed cracks by the spoke holes.

Whilst the Nottingham store may not have one in stock straight away - they can pull stock from any store in the Rutland Cycling family - so you should be able to get it before the weekend

They checked for stock at all their branches and there were non to be had.

Do you seriously think you should get a new bike because of a creak and dropper post fault . The creak is probably just something need tightening as most do on a first service . It will cost you time whatever you do wherever you buy from . Most problems on a bike take less time to fix than the time it takes to get it to a shop . Your vitus has probably cost a few thousand less than the equivalent spec Levo and if your local spesh dealer is like ours they will have lots more off you at service time even when you expect warranty

To be fair k don't know. I've been pretty lucky all my acotuic bikes have run smooth as butter with very basic maintenance for a few years and then I just buy another bike anyway as j fancy a change. Just never had a new bike that creaks and a big component doesn't work. And no I probably wasn't expecting a new bike but because I'm in 30 days and could have one of I really pushed for it was hoping it might startle them into offering more than £30 warranty. When I imagine even if it's this stuff is a simple fix it will cost more than £30.

I don't see the relevance in a specialized product be £2k more for same components. Say if I didn't know much about e bikes and somehow in another universe I bought a brand new specialized levo s works for £1000 and it was sold as new I still would expect it to come fully working.

I guess they are just hoping your Lbs will probably do a few simple adjustments or tighten something up and all will be ok , which is probably the case . £ 30 should really cover the labour and if the seat post is faulty I guess you’ll get sent a new one , but I bet it’s just a cable adjustment issue from reassembly .

What I meant by the cost difference with a Levo , is the vitus has very good spec for its price , and to get a similar spec in a Levo will cost a lot more .
Hope they sort it , I’ve always found chain reaction very helpful ,with warranty and advice

Theres a good chance your dropper ain’t working from new is down to cable routing, did you drop the post assy in the seat tube when you were setting up the bike? Probs need to pull the cable to match the movement..... ( I had same problem on same bike)

buy from mail order and when the bike arrives strip it down (apart from taking the spokes out of the wheels), then put it back together - adjusting as you go - and "hey presto" you now know more about your bike than the LBS.
