Hi all

Purchased sons new wheels today. Some EX511 on hope hubs. Where to start!?

The front looks like it needs some sort of adapters to fit into the fork slots, so rubs terribly on the brakes. New SLX cassette on the rear, which has no clearance between the bottom cogs and chainstay protector,

Mech hanger bent so the tiny screw won't clamp it together! What a nightmare! Anyone had this? Or any of these!.

Need more details in order to help - suggest addressing issues one at a time. For example, with the front wheel issue - is the fork spacing boost (110mm) or non-boost (100mm) and is the front hub properly matched to that spacing? If the fork and hub are of the same spacing, then the rubbing should be able to be resolved by aligning the caliper. Loosen the caliper fasteners, rotate wheel and apply and hold brake and retighten fasteners - this should center the calipers on the disc. If the hub and fork are not of the same spacing then it's a different issue.

Okay, let us know. Then we can discuss the other issues as these will also need more details.

For hope hubs you need their OS end cap kit for an RS fork with the torque cap dropout interface. (Well.. you don't NEED them but I'll get onto that in a min) RS designed the dropout to use an oversized end cap. it's marketed as increasing stiffness and steering response. in reality it doesn't noticably increase stiffness or steering response at all but not having the correct end caps now means it becomes a PITA replacing the front wheel with older end caps.

Make sure you buy boost OS end caps if you have a boost 110mm fork and standard OS caps if you have non boost 100mm fork.

fitting like for like (hub standard and rotor size/brand/fitting) disc rotors should slot right into a caliper with either no adjustment required at all or only minimal alignment.

no idea about the chainstay protector clearance issue. Looks badly designed or improperly fitted if it's fouling cassette sprockets. Sounds kinda odd if the mech hanger is causing it.

Levo uses a 148 boost rear hub.....what is the hub in the wheel you bought? Maybe 142??

I thought torque caps were for a fork. Confusing thread is confusing.
Correct. They merely increase the interface surface area between the hub and SRAM/RS fork mounts because they are a bigger diameter than standard hub caps.
