Hey!

Decided on a gen 3 Levo for my first emtb, my local dealer has both a new 2023 Comp Carbon for 5700 euros (31% off) and a 2025 Comp Alloy for 6000 euros (15% off). There are a few differences, The Alloy got Maven Bronze brakes, X01 Derailleur and a FOX FLOAT X Performance 55x210mm rear shock. compared to the Carbon who has Code R brakes, GX Derailleur, and a FOX FLOAT Performance 52.5x210mm rear shock.

Really not sure which one to buy, can't really feel much weight difference, but I really like the clean look of the carbon frame, the welds on the alloy is very prominent and not as nice looking imo. Not as visibel on the black, but I would go for the sage green in alloy or sage white in carbon.

I am leaning towards the carbon since it's also slightly cheaper, (don't know how much better the alloy upgrades are?) but I'm reading horror stories about carbon frames cracking if you are unlucky and hit a rock or whatnot during a fall so not really sure.

Any input is appreciated, and I know the gen 4 is due soon, but im not willing to spend more than 6000 euros on a bike so that's out of the question anyways.

Comp carbon with better components and more discount would be a easy decision for me.
Maybe change the Code brakes for a start and see if you want to upgrade any other parts down the road.
Yeah im leaning towards the carbon, although the Alloy does have some better components than the Carbon, but I doubt I would feel the difference, and I could always upgrade later.

Take the carbon modell, it's over 1kg lighter and you won't noitce any difference with the shock and the derailler. As Polar said you can upgrade the brakes later but I would recommend Dominions A4 or Hope Tech4 V4 over the Mavens.
I wouldn't worry about the carbon frame, they are very tough.

I’d say shop around, those prices seem kind of high still. There’s a shop near me that has 2024 S-works for 47% off, they had a few Pros at 52% off the last time I was in there but it looks like those are gone now.

No way Maven Ultimate is my favorite because I got'm😁
Yea, they are strong brakes and solid lever feel but I would favour the lighter lever feel of the Hayes and Hope Brakes.
I run the Maven on an levo sl and the Hope on an levo comp and the hope are less tiring on long downhill runs.
