On the USA Trek website there is a prompt now to give your email for upcoming announcement of new Trek ebikes with the new Bosch system. Is the 2022 Rail going to be unchanged apart from the new battery and display or will we see a true redesign?

The aluminium frames appear unchanged so far (the 2022 Rail 9 is up on the Trek GB website). My guess is the carbon frame bikes get a tweak to take the larger 750Wh battery.

I hope we get some longer reach frames with an extra 10mm travel front and back, that would be the best thing on the market total Levo killer

I shudder to think what they'll cost.

I got my 2020 Rail 9.8 for NZD 9,350 in January 2020. I'm picking that the same bike for 2022 will be more like NZD 14,000 albeit the newer bike will have Zebs, Super Deluxe shock and Kiox upgrades over mine. Edit: NZ prices include sales tax BTW.

NZD 1.00 = USD 0.70

You can do that yourselves already. Just run a 5mm longer shock stroke & put a 170 fork on it.

Although having had a Rail and now a Levo, it needs a few more things that 10mm of extra travel to make it comparable to a new Levo (not that it's a bad bike at it, it's great, just not as good as the Levo now).

what else does it need? I thought the Bosch is a better drive system than the Brose with all the failures. Im not hating, i am truly curious. To me it just seems the Bosch bikes are the best right now, but i am just going off what I am reading

I've been quoted £8800 for the Rail 9.8 GX and £10800 for the 9.9 axs.

is that the 2022? do you know what the bike looks like as far as frame changes?
That was for 2022 bikes.
The dealer had the motor and battery details emitted from the spec sheet.
This was before the bosch embargo was lifted, so my spider senses were telling me, they probably have the new bosch motors and batteries in them.
I was also told that they on about a 300 day back order ?

For the next Rail version, i would like it to keep :
-removable battery (i use 2 for 1250Wh for long ride, and 1 (lighter) for after work quickies)
-full 29er setup (i'm an XL rider and don't like mullet bike for climbing technical stuff)
-possibility to charge my phone while riding
-the awesome orange color
i would like some modifications
-a high pivot, with higher anti squat (and less kickback), with a pulley system like on the Session - DH bike
-get rid of the knock block, or at least prevent down tube damage and increase handlebar rotation for switchbacks

I think in terms of size/package/performance the Bosch is tough to beat, Given it's power it's BMS does seem to do well with the 625 battery.

But, the UX of the system is woefully bad. Like something that should have been binned 5+ years ago, and the new one doesn't seem to be much of an improvement. At least you can tailor the settings in the App, but the controller is just embarassing.

The Rail does have a few foibles. Limited shock choices (and Trek's obsession with junk Thru-Shaft technology), it ate bearings for fun, the lower pivot 'shelf' that collected & ate rocks, damaging the carbon & trying to run cables over the motor was one of the most painful bike mechanicing experiences I have ever put myself through.

Rode really well though - just let down by some really simple things that should have been picked up IMO.

I’d like a steeper seat tube, flip chips that allow a mullet set up, 170/160 travel and more progressive linkage.
I think he means the trend seems to be mullet. If you watch the latest youtube vids of the bike shows, most upcoming stuff is mullet. I also like having 29 front and back.
