There is a stop sale on the 2022 Heckler until they figure out which serial numbers are affected.

Meanwhile : throw a strap or some tape or something on yours until your LBS finds out if yours is recalled.
My LBS gave me a voile strap to use :)

This is horrible. I was out of the country when I purchased my 22 Heckler. After I paid, I received a call that I could not receive my bike because of the stop sale.

Any word on a fix yet? Mine fell out on my first ride. With the battery out, I ended up moving the bracket holding the battery to shorten the distance and make the fit a little tighter. I saw something similar on a Bullit post. Previously the secondary metal catch would not engage. Now it does and since the distance between connections is shorter, the upper engagement should have more contact. Could the solution be this easy? Doubt it, but now it seems more secure. Also put a strap around it and 3 rides later no issues so far.

Not sure. I haven’t been able to pick up my bike since the SC rep won’t release it to me because of the issue. I haven’t been able to find any documentation from SC.

Where is this stop sale thing in effect? I can still buy a Heckler in a few different places here in California….although it seems like only XLs are available.

I bought mine from Competitive Cyclist and while it was on its way, I was informed by CC of the issue and told no solution was known yet. That was a few weeks ago. Not sure if there was a stop sale everywhere, but CC seemed to imply not to ride the bike until a fix was identified. Kind of ridiculous to expect a new emtb owner to "sit tight" when there is no fix date known meanwhile with a huge bike box sitting in your living room or garage (assuming you have space in either). I decided to ride it with the strap and the adjustment to the battery connection I mentioned above. No issues since.

No.

I sent them a question about it and they said the fix is in the works. I was taken aback by their response. It doesn’t seem like they really care too much about the customer experience. In fact, if you bought your bike online you’d have to contact them and then they’d send you the kit with the new parts and then you’d have to find a local dealer to do the work….my feeling is that the local dealer might even be able to charge you. They didn’t say otherwise. Words are important. I didn’t get the feeling that it was urgent to them. That’s just my opinion.

I talked to the rep yesterday. I was told the design for the new part was in the works and would still need approval from the consumer review and safety groups. Then manufacturing would happen. Then distribution to all shops. Then installation.
As a designer, I know this is not a two week problem. Or an easy process to solve. Communication would help me and other who bought the bike and cannot obtain yet.

Thanks for the update, guys. That's more info than I have gotten in several weeks of checking in with the online dealer I purchased from. Thankfully the strap around the battery seems to be a temporary fix so that I can still ride it and it's not just garage art. I haven't had an issue since using it. Will post here if that changes.

Not that it helps anyone, but Trek went through something similar last year with batteries sliding down the trail. The fix, a strap. Still keep mine on just for piece of mind ;)

Same here in New Jersey. Only shop around me that has a 22 Heckler in stock won’t sell until the stop sale is lifted.

I think I was one of the firsts to actually have the battery fall out lol. Mine fell out on the highway about a month ago, contacted SC, after some exchanges of emails, they admitted that there was a latch issue, my impression was they were going to send me out a new battery right away as they created an invoice, but they failed to tell me it might be some time before this whole thing is resolved. Sucks, I got 1 ride on it.....

Have you received any communication from your shop or SC on when your issue will be resolved?

So I bought mine online from Mike's Bikes, haven't heard anything from them, only thing I've noticed is all sizes are "sold out" on their site. No ETA on when the issue will be resolved, I have a direct rep I've been in communication with, but like others have said, doesn't seem like they're in any hurry or really care about their customer service. I asked the rep if he was going to contact me when this is solved, he basically just told me to just be persistent on reaching out to him, answers right away, but I don't think he knows either.

I was in the same boat, and got impatient having a bike I could not ride. Thankfully, I was able to get full refund. I never got a change to ride the bike... Hope this gets resolved soon!

Did you ever physically get the bike in your possession or did you buy it and weren't able to get it released from the shop? When I initially contacted SC, I was prepared to buy a new battery, I would even buy a new battery right now so I could just ride the damn thing, but they won't do either.

Did you do a search for a 720Wh (E4C0G) Darfon battery and come up emtpy?

I've seen a Scor 4060 Z at a dealer yesterday that has the same battery. The batterycover wasn't fully closed and the guy at the Shop said he couldn't close it. There was a gap of like 5mm half way around it! So I guess there is a Problem with these batteries not just at SC..

Did it fall out from the top, bottom or could you tell? Just want to make sure I put my strap in the right place ;)

I think it was from the top but honestly I am not sure. It happened on landing a jump and I just felt something heavy hit my leg. I have my strap high near the upper latch and haven't had an issue since. Probably 10 rides later or so
