Hi can anyone give me some guidance. Got a 2021 Levo comp. And had a nightmare with the rear wheel. Hub has fallen to bits so looking at a replacement wheel. Only riding local trail centres and not hicking stuff as too old now. But I’ve got a lot of spare 11 speed gear from previous bike so I really want a hg free hub instead of the microspline. Are there any decent rear wheels that are hg that won’t break the bank. It’s all super confusing all the different wheel options. I’ve currently got the standard Levo wheel with mt510-b hub. Can I get a rebuild hub kit and a hg 11 speed free hub body so I could get rid of the microspline or am I better off just replacing complete wheel.
cheers in advance.

I would choose microspline over HG as there are more areas of contact on the cassette. XD is better but can be even more expensive. Depending on which wheel you have, you may be able to get a freehub replacement if that is what has "fallen to bits". My thought has been to buy something that will last and not a cheap wheel that will only give you grief. I use mostly Hope Pro 4 hubs/DT Swiss rims and have not had any problems with them. If you change from a 12 speed to an 11 speed cassette, you will need to change your entire drive train including your cassette, deraileur and shifter. In the long run, if you wear out drive trains quickly, this will be cheaper as 12 speed components are more expensive than 11. I could get away with a 10 speed drive train as I rarely use more than 4 or 5 gears!
You are never too old to have fun!

Thanks for the reply. I’ve got a spare complete 11 speed drivetrain to install. As I think it will be cheaper to maintain on the long run. Never use the dinner plate on the 12 speed so looking for cheaper maintenance int the long term.
my hub and freehub have both fallen to pieces. Just had it off to look. So will need a new hub. So thinking a new wheel would possibly be a easier option than a new hub and having it built. When looking for a wheel is it only the 12 x 142mm that’s important. So I would need a
29inch 12 x 148 hg wheel to run my 11 speed group set.
cheers again.

Yes. 12x142mm and 12 x148mm are your rear axle widths. The 2021 Levo, it will be a 12 x 148mm. The HG refers to the type of cassette. You will NOT be able to use the original Levo 2021 cassette, chain or front chain ring if you want to convert your bike over to an 11 speed, An 11-42 cassette would still give you plently of torque on a Levo and it will be MUCH cheaper than an 11-52. You will also need an 11 speed chain, front chain ring and shifter if you don't already have those parts.

There are 29" DT Swiss hx 1501 on sale at chain reaction, but you would need to find a Hybrid ratchet HG hub as they come with XD.

Hi just been looking at chain reaction there is a dtswiss e1900 that should be a direct fit .
  • DT Swiss E 1900 Hg Rear Wheel (30mm) at £189
  • Had a h1700 on a canyon on that was trouble free. Wish I could have said the same for the canyon
  • Would this fit the Levo directly
  • Will I need a new rotor as the Levo original is Center lock.

    Cheers
