I change grips & pedals and convert to tubeless before I ride the bike. I no longer consider them upgrades. I have an opinion on tyres and saddles, but if they are new to me, I'll give them each a try before considering changing them. Again I don't count them as upgrades, although essential (to me).

What I consider upgrades are big changes to the suspension (either new, fork or shock, a new damper for the fork or a bigger air can for the shock, that sort of thing). Also included would be a speed change to the transmission, to 1x on an mtb, new wheels, a new bar (different in width, geometry or material), a dropper post if I didn't already have one, bigger discs.........

None of the upgrades listed above would be done without careful consideration of what improvement I'm looking for to replace the current level of unhappiness that I no longer wish to put up with.
Dude. The guy is selling a bike, not running a Q&A.
