Marzocchi Forks on the Comp and Dual Crown on the Expert = I’m out!
Yeah, because there is no way to change the forks.
They can never be swapped out for something else.
Once they go on the bike they can never be removed.
Who’s the twat at Specialized who dreamed that up?
Forks that you can’t change!
I mean who is tightening these bolts?
Vinnie Jones?
FFS it just might be on there for good.

In all seriousness. Buy the Expert, sell the dual crown to anyone with a 20 Kenevo comp, or a 18-19 Kenevo and buy whichever fork you want. You could unload the wheelset after the fork sale because the muppet you sold it to realizes his front wheel won’t work with a 20mm thru-axle. Then you could build up some nice wheels.

Or keep the dual crown, buy a complete Fox Moto kit with a carbon fullface helmet. Don’t forget the 100%goggles! That way when you hit the local ride, they’ll know you mean business.

Or keep the dual crown, buy a complete Troy Lee Moto kit with a carbon fullface helmet. Don’t forget the Oakley goggles! That way when you hit the local ride, they’ll know you mean business.

...why the hate on the Marzocchi fork?

Ace
Well why wouldn’t you? It probably doesn’t ride all that great and has limited adjustments knob thingies.
98FC9879-44AA-49C3-B7F5-96D67AA9F7E1.jpeg

Plus it got one bad biased review from
a Fox fanboy.
Also it’s not a Fox fork, I don’t care if Fox owns Marzocchi and it’s designed in the same building.
It can’t be designed by Fox engineers, it had to be some Intern, the janitor or Dave from the mailroom.
It doesn’t have that gaudy Kashima coating which in reality doesn’t do anything but make me feel superior to all those without because once they see that bronzey kinda golden on my fork they will know...
I paid more

Serious? Me?
That’s called “hyperbole”
If you thought I was being serious, you might want to read it again.
The new Giant Reign looks amazing. Quite a departure from how ugly the previous generation Giant Emtbs looked. Still I think they should switch to the new Bosch Gen 4 motor on their next bikes.
That Yamaha motor sure doesn’t check one very important box for me

I would love to be a Dane.
I could work for the LEGO group during the day.
And perform in live sex shows at night.
The best part is no one at LEGO would be bothered by my second job.
Because the Danes are the most sensible people on earth.
It’s settled, I was all set to move to Norway, but Denmark it will have to be.
@khorn see you Tuesday

What pay £6,900 for a bike then start changing bits, nah. I was hoping for a good single crown fork.

Currently the Giant Reign is ticking all my boxes.

Depends on where you go, but someone might just swap the forks straight out for you, so it wouldn't really be messing about ..

You looking at the E +0 or the E +1 ??.... Both look good on paper.

Imagine if you decided to steal from work though ? And then were late leaving and getting to your second job and didn't have time to change ... You'd be the only male stripper displaying an 8 knob pattern in his shorts ..

I can change the fork myself but I like to leave my bikes “standard” as it affects the resale.

Looking at the E+1 for £4,999 as the E+0 is £2,000 more and a replacement mech is £600!

Tricky isn't it ! :) You've been waiting patiently for a while now for the magical 2020 Kenevo !!!

And as an arm chair hero my advice would be to keep it in your trousers wait a few more days ..:censored::geek: at least you'll then know for sure. I wouldn't rule out the Marzipans straight off, there's plenty of people prefer the way they're configured to the Fox version. If it was packing 30mm suntours maybe I'd be a bit concerned...

The giants have made a huge leap forward, and I'm probably not going to make any friends here, but for me the Reign is still only just comparable to the "old" Kenevo and you'd pick up a new "old" expert for less money than a Reign.

Full disclosure : I receive 20% commission on any specialised bike sold to anyone who arrives in the shop using a zimmerframe.

Is the Marzocchi a red headed step child at Fox? Or is it their "Premier" line?

...or is it the Chevy/GMC where they come off the same assembly line, and someone slaps a different sticker on the grill?

I think ... though it's only from other crap I've read and seen, so lets face it .. it's like Chinese whispers .. that it's been slowly re-positioned to be their budget line, but often is higher spec ..

Which would mean that sometimes it's lower spec .. Ultimately more people buy fox because it's easier to pronounce in the shop so you don't look like a dick - people pay more to not look like a dick :)

as far as I know the Z1 line is after all a FOX 36 internally while the new Z2 got the First own developEd damper cartridge (Since bought by fox) while still using the Fox EVOL air spring.

I’ll clear this up for you.

The z1 is a fox 36 rhythm painted red. Thicker stanchion and heavier lower. Fitgrip damper with sweep style lsc up top and typical lsr below.

It’s an excellent fork. I will put my left nut on the table and say I prefer it over any fox36 fit4 version. However the grip2 stuff is better again. The best part about fitgrip is the setup time. It’s extremely easy to get a setup that simply works. For your average punter with little to no suspension tuning knowledge this is a major positive. For the fiddlers out there get a grip2.

I use a rythym on my stumpjumper Evo, have not had the slightest temptation to upgrade it. My other bikes have grip2 36’s for reference, my older bikes were fit4’s/rc2’s

Does that come with a "Happy Ending" option on the Expert model ? ;-)

Option for either
But when we finally see it ... if everything else ticks all your boxes and gives you the "wow!!" .. Depending on that you wanted, you could sell the Marzipan's and put on whatever you actually wanted or sell the Dual Crown's and put on whatever you wanted ...
Would you rather have 180mm Boxxer or a similar Lyrik? Dont forget the new Fox 38 mm single next year. What dis-advantages do people think the dual crown has? Cannondale 2020 monterra has a 180mm boxxer and its available, would you rather have the new Monterra or the new 2020 Trek rail 9.7, and why?

Lyrik, they suck on switch backs and twisty technical climbs and have the same turning radius as a WWII aircraft carrier. Crackandfail or the shrek? Tough one. Probably the Crackandfail.

I used to have an xl canyon sender, the thick frame and big knock block meant you had approx 90 degrees steering range with the triple clamps. There was one slow off camber corner into a chute on one of the local tracks you nearly had to do a three point turn as the steering angle was so poor. In the end I learned to do a stoppie and swing the back around to avoid clipping out.

When climbing tight switchbacks this would happen so often and would get old quick. If you are just flying up fireroads then it would be fine obviously.

But nothing rides like a set of triple clamp forks. 180 lyriks or 36’s are great, but a big ol set of boxxers or 40’S instills so much confidence.
