Kenevo Gen1 2020 Kenevo startup problem

Just went for a short spin to check the bike over and there's a problem with the startup.

The problem: Pressing the start button on the controller does nothing.

However, disconnecting and reconnecting the bike's power connector to the battery causes the bike to start up *without* the need to press the button.

When the bike powers up, it stays powered-up, and pressing the power button on the controller shuts it down, so it would seem not to be a physical switch problem on the controller.

This is the second time this fault has happened, it's going back to the shop (again) next week.

The connector and battery socket is spotlessly clean (I used an air-line to make sure).

Anyone have the same problem?

Not very happy with the bike, it seems that it's not really suitable for Welsh weather. It rains A LOT here.
I looked at the controller and found that there's no gasket or seal anywhere, the water just floods in, and the controller itself isn't sealed apart from a flimsy usb plug.

Pull off the left hand side crank , then the side cover .
Now pull out the power cord and inspect it . I had to give my Levo a blow wave twice this week to make it go .

If it is indeed the fault causing your problem , searching in the Specialized sub forum will reveal lots of people having the similar problem , and that Specialized upgraded the cord and replaces them under warranty .

I have sort of the same issue , press on just gets a beep and the battery lights light up for a sec or 2 then nothing . Repeat for about 10 times and it will start up and works fine ! We’ve plugged it in to diagnose but says it’s fine , very odd !

This is odder still - pressing the button does absolutely nothing - not a peep.
But then disconnect the power cord and reconnect it (maybe a few times) and the bike starts up but without having to press the button.

The button works, as once it's powered up, pressing the button shuts it down.

I'm going to ask the shop to replace the cable.

Will yours start up if you roll it backwards

Also, if I put my (dry) thumb over the bottom two battery contacts, the battery charger LEDs flash as if it was charging.
Do other batteries do that or is mine faulty?

(Yes, I've smashed my battery guard, but that's another sad story...)
