2019 Trance E 2 chain guide. Chains.

Thanks to a wayward branch, I have just snapped the chain guide on my Trance 2. Are these really necessary? My lbs giant has just quoted £99.99 for a replacement. Does anyone know where I can get a cheaper one?
Also I am running a KMC 11 speed chain. Is there anything better/ longer lasting?

I recently tore my chain guide off when my trouser got trapped in it.
I have been out on my Trance E +3 since and had no problems. Hammered the bike over rock gardens and all is good.

Did you get the KMC E-11 chain?

The gent on the GMBN Youtube channel noted those guides are really not needed anymore due to exactness of the chains & the rings
