I’m thinking of changing the standard Roval Traverse and at the moment looking at either the Mavic E-xa elite 30 or the DT Swiss HX1501. I’ve seen good reviews on the DT but nothing on the Mavic. There’s a considerable cost difference between the two so wondered what thoughts were on the Mavic. Alternatively what other options would be worth considering.

I would either go for the new Hope Fortus (due any day in four rim choices) or Hunt Wheels. Really no need to buy 'E' specific wheels - or anything else 'E' specific!

I am not so sure nowadays, at first a lot of the e-specific stuff was just marketing, and a lot still is, but we are starting to see some products now which have genuine advantages. The DT Swiss have a good rep, I have been running the non e 1900's for a year, and have gone though 2 sets of front bearings in that time, but they are an easy and cheap swap. The splines on thee rear hub are getting pretty trashed now though, the E-Specific ones have still rather than alloy bodies so should be tougher.

Yes, bodies is a fair point. (y) If going Hope then chose the steel body over alu for sure.

Just got the Fortus 35 in 27.5 fitted and liking them a lot. They seem more than man enough for my Levo.

Nice. (y) What tyres did you go for?

I posted about this on STW (in the current Hope vs Hunt topic) but it's a shame the only 30mm option is the reinforced heavy DH model. So if you don't want these you have to choose the 26mm or 35mm I know many like real wide rims now but 30mm is fine for 2.5/2.6.
