Hi. I'm looking for a bit of advise. I am looking to buy my first ebike next year. I was looking at either the Decoy or the new Meta Power Sx so far from what's out. I was waiting till everyone had their bikes out before I made up my mind

I have been offered a 2018 Kenevo Expert with 200 miles on it for a really good price. I am very interested in it but just wanted to see what peoples opinions of the 2018 were and if I would be better waiting. Or should I get this one now use it over the winter for training and then mid next year pick up a 2020

Any help would be great
John

The 2018 is very good. Compared to levo/decoy/etc they are a bit of a bulldozer, but are incredibly capable and a lot of fun. I have no plans to 'upgrade' mine.

What sort of trails are you riding?

Thanks for the reply. I ride mainly red and black trails here in Ireland. We don't really have too many bike parks so it's mainly local Forrest trails

Is there anything I should look for? Common issues etc

Walk mode is temperamental, if they have got wet the bearings shreik. Lots of threads on here, but typically the 18 kenevo seems one of the more reliable ebikes, the ebike components are the same as the 18 levo.

Kenevo is perfectly suited to red/black tech trails, the only place I didn't really enjoy mine is on fast surfaced flow trails at bpw, where the weight was noticible.

I'm surprised you didn't notice your weight on the other trails ? :p

I'm relatively new to the world of Kenevo and was surprised how good it is, at everything. If you're getting one at good money I really don't think you can go wrong.

I'm new too so not sure I can compare but the Kenevo would not be my choice for tight technical & twisty mtb park climbs but it's still capable.

For anything else it's the best I've tried especially sensitive wilderness exploration. I can't think of anything better to glide through rainforest trails. The 1.3 or Alu S motor is almost silent...can't think of any other silent mid-drives not that I've tried them all.

18’ Kenevo is the cats meow!!! I do everything with it and dust all other ebikes in my group. “Bulldozer” it is but still makes all the tight and twisties fine here in the New England trails. Loves to grab air when ever possible and super stable. Sadly the 2020’s would never make the turns around here. 18’ or 19’ whilst they last is the best bet!

Why wouldn't a 2020 Levo make the turns?
Geometry wise the S1 is pretty much a size L DH bike from 12 years back.

I suppose if you want to put a 6’ tall rider from a LG 2018 on the smallest 2020 Kenevo it may help. It would be even odder looking than it already is and still has longer chainstays and 1deg slacker head angle.

Key comment there is “DH”. Gone is the long travel trail bike it was.
