Hi Guys, I am new to the Ebike scene. Was riding a Specialised Endur0 29r. I was going to buying a levo. My money can only push to the base model and I have spotted The 2018 Meta Power.
The components are far better value for money. Whats everyones thoughts on this model ?

Bought one early this year . It’s a great bike , I really love the way it rides and as you say the value for money is amazing , nothing bad to say about the bike at all . Vitus is probably the best value if your budget is a bit less than the commencal

I was like you and was ready to buy a Levo, but when comparing the better components for the same price, the commencal was the clear choice for me. I have almost 2000 miles and would buy it again. It has handled everything I've thrown at it.

apart from spec is there any difference between the 2018 and the 2019 models
No the 27.5 bikes are the same , just a few component changes and colour . The 29er is new And new Bikes come with decent bash guard now , which we will have to buy for the older ones

The bashguard on my '19 29er is pretty damn stout and fits like a glove around the lower engine cases. There is still a flimsy plastic piece that attaches between the engine bashguard and the downtube. Not much more than a thin rock deflector. You'd have to take a serious casing to break the lower bashguard and I ride in the nastiest of rock gardens. Think lava fields.

Can you post a pic of the new bashguard, I have the flimsy one and am on my second one, which is already starting to tear made out of the downtube portion of yours.

Well a wee update. I bit the bullet and went for the Meta Power 650b + fox. It arrived yesterday, it looks like jsalas one above apart from black forks on mine. Nusring a broken ankle so can only look at it for now. Pictures will follow soon once I manage to bulid it.

I almost bought a Levo but thankfully stumbled on the 2018 Meta Essential

I was just doing some math and figure i could replace the Shimano E8000 motor 3 times over before I met the cost of a similarly equipped Levo or Kenevo. Or, i could buy 5 replacement batteries for the Meta Power by the time I reach the cost. haha!!

My Commencal. 1800 km, all on Boost. All on rough singletrack, North York Moors. Got through 4 tyres, 2 chains and 2 blocks, plus one rear mech (if you feel it pick up some heather, it's generally too late, as the motor has already ripped it off the hanger). Everything else is as-new.

I'm not interested in trying any other brand or engine make. This one suits me just fine.

Incidentally, I'm 6'2, this is a Large.

Edit... I changed the cranks to 165, it's well worth the money. I was catching the pedals all the time with 175's.

Still very much enjoying mine , about 1500 miles , just had new motor from commencal , they were very good with warranty despite a very intermittent fault .
Recently Changed my ex1 gears for sun race 11 speed , with kmc ebike chain ,just because missed the extra ratios , ex1 seemed very strong and great shifting under load
I was on the second ex1 chain, used 3 sets of brake pads and tried a number of tyres , only wore out the original rear .
I just love the bike and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another
