2017 Levo with 2018 handlebar remote

Hi all. Up until yesterday I have been running a Garmin remote linked to the Levo and the 820. This has worked perfectly apart from
- in my opinion the remote was vulnerable in a crash and especially when the bike is upside down, plus the handlebar mount / clip was not all that great / secure
- the levo was slow to react when the mode button was pressed, would sometimes have to be pressed 2 or 3 times - quite often it would not work when you needed it ?
So I bought a 2018 wired remote from Rutland cycles and fitted it last night which was very easy to do.
I did not know if it would work, as I thought I was running old SW / FW, images below, but as it turns out everything is working fine. The only anomaly I am now seeing is that the Garmin is now showing "off" when ECO is selected, whereas before it would show "ECO". I do run the Levo motor at 0% assist at ECO (can't get much more eco than that ?) So I am guessing that is why it is showing off. When I put 5% assist on, this changes from showing "off" to "ECO". It never did this before with the Garmin remote.

Forgot to mention when in ECO / off mode, only one led comes on instead of 2 led's which is what is normally shown for ECO.

I routed it along the dropper post cable and then tucked it under the frame just behind the headset and then routed it inside the frame. Looks ok.

The way I did it on mine is Dremel a tiny notch to the top of the battery casing, same diameter as the cable, then cable tie the cable to the already existing cables on the downtube. Worked well for me and no damage to the bike frame.

This is what I did :)
If you are still under warranty I would not recommend it.
It was my choice in the end ;)

Bad luck dude, No issue with mine as I removed all the sharp edges before feeding the cable through it. I installed it in May.

Yea bad luck mate, sounds like the notch wasn't big enough for the cable. I had mine like that for over a year with out any issues.

I finally got my remote, and it didn't work on my levo.
F/W in motor is 4.0.255 - battery 4.9.255 .
Do you think that updating f/w would help ?

Have you made sure the connector is the right way around? If all is good there chances are you need to update the motor / battery software.

Good to see have the plug from the battery to the motor in. I presume the other plug to the motor is also plugged in?

Ok, this may sound like a really stupid question but..... did you turn the battery on after you plugged the remote plug in? If you did then your only hope is to carry out a software update and hopefully it will work.
When I purchased my remote the shop did warn me that they had a few issues with the remotes not working on some of the 2017 bikes. They said if it didnt work they would let me return the remote for a fully refund.

All plugs were plugged in... of course now I have a doubt, did I plug motor and battery :oops:.

Must try one more time :)

I did turn battery on after I plug remote to motor, that I'm sure.

One thing I notice, there is difference in "dummy plug" in my bike and the bike on the video.
My bike only has two pins inside of "dummy plug", in video there's four ?
