Just about to put a set of 27.5” Hope Fortus Pro 4 wheels (30mm rim width) on my ‘19 Turbo Levo. Can’t decide whether to go for 2.6 or 2.8 Butcher Grids - anyone have any views? Riding Scottish muck with a fair few rocks and roots thrown in. Thanks!

i went with 2.8 and it becomes harder to turn. also wider tire, higher volume so lower max psi and higher chance for pillow effect where the rim goes one way and the tire goes the other way especially on front wheel.

difference between 2.6 and 2.8 is probably minuscule.

how much do you weigh?

Thanks - That probably backs up my instinct to just stick with the 2.6 - I’m changing to 27.5 to get quicker steering!!

11 stone ? Hopefully less in the near future ?

stones... mmhh ok ?

if you want quicker steering then definitely don't go wider. ive run both 27.5 rims on 2.8" wide and 29" on 2.4" tires and the 29er is by far quicker mostly due to the reduced mass and much higher psi.

them rims carbon?
Nope. Alloy. Sorry didn’t realise you are stateside! Asking a lady her weight too, tsk tsk!! ? suppose the name doesn’t really offer many clues ?

aye girl. i was thinking 150 lbs for a guy... that dude is tiny!

for quicker steering you can also shorten your stem.
Haha sadly not so tiny ? - some would say not much of a lady either ?
Prob leave the stem as it is - like the length and seat position etc.
Thanks for input - off to buy some 2.6s.

I just put 27.5, 40mm wide with 2.8 maxxis dhf/dhr 2 on my 2019. 15 lbs in the front and 18 in the rear for now. Turned quicker and felt better in corners and jumps. Much rougher on the fast rutted sections.

I am in Quebec so here people like this tire for grip but do not like it because it is slow. You want grip = 2.8, if you are afraid of slow 2.6. I am on 40 mm and they are great for grip. 3.0 or 2.8. I would think 30 is more for 2.6
